Thoughts on the Road

When I drive alone, two things usually happen. One - I continuously look for a good radio station. Two - my thoughts begin to wander. Usually they go to my business and my driving test guide, but other times also lead to other thoughts.

It's usually OK to wander with your mind during driving, but you should be careful not to be carried away too much. You still need to maintain focus on the road, and losing that can get really serious really fast.

In a week or two I'm planning to start an interview series with bloggers. Do you have any ideas for questions? If you have, feel free to leave them in your comments.

Have a great weekend!

Tips for Preparation

It's that time of the week again. The time for you to get the best possible tips about passing the driving test. Here is another batch.

7 Driving Test Tips to Help You Prepare for Your Examination

Are you planning on taking your driving test anytime soon? Have you been studying and practicing? Approximately 50% of students fail during their first try. Passing a driving exam isn't easy. If it was, the roads would be a lot more dangerous than the already are.

Since they're not easy, you need to study for at least an hour a day. Get as much practice with an experienced adult driver as you can. You can increase your chances of passing if you prepare yourself.

Here are some tips to help you pass the exam so that you can get your driver's license.

1. Try to stay calm before going in for your test. This is an obvious, but many people have trouble with anxiety and nervousness. Do some relaxation techniques such as deep breathing and stretching before going into the DMV. Eat a large breakfast and drink water or juice. Don't drink any caffeine. If you have to have it, drink a minimum amount.

2. Ask friends and family about the testing routes. Find out where you'll be tested beforehand and practice driving around the area. Take note where all of the signs and signals are located.

3. Familiarize yourself with the test car. If you're going to be using your own, or your parents', make sure you know where all of the controls are. Practice driving in it until you are comfortable with it and know it like the back of your hand.

4. Watch online driving videos and read instructional material such as the official driving manual and ebooks. There are also practice tests you can take online. Take the practice tests over and over. If you miss any questions, learn the right answers.

5. When you start your test, remember to do the following: put your seatbelt on, make sure the passenger (the examiner) is wearing a seatbelt, check mirrors, adjust mirrors if necessary, and position your hands correctly on the wheel. The examiner might purposely not put his/her seatbelt on to see if you will notice.

6. Have trouble with parallel parking? You can perfect it by setting up boxes in an abandoned area. You can practice over and over again without fear of messing up and hitting anybody. Even if you do mess up, you'll only hit boxes.

7. During the testing process, always be conscious of the speed limit. Pay attention to the other cars on the road. Also, don't forget to turn your cell phone off!

If you follow these tips, and learn which mistakes to avoid, you should do all right! Common mistakes include everything from forgetting to signal properly to stopping inside an intersection.

You can read driving secrets online. There are plenty of resources and tools available to help new drivers. By using these tools, you'll gain confidence in your ability to drive. You'll be able to pass the examination without any problems!

Getting your driver's license is not that hard. If you would like to pass your driving test without trying so hard, you should get yourself this amazing driving test guide.

While I was looking for a new first time driver, I noticed that some names are more common than others. For examples, Ashley. We already had three Ashley's, and this one (after two years of nothing) is number four. Enjoy this video. It's a really good demonstation of a good driving teacher.

This video was taken on July 24 of this year, so Ashley still has some time until she'll get her license. With a good instructor like this, she won't have any problems.

11% Don't Think They'll Pass

A recent survey in Britain shows that 11% of motorists think they will not pass their test if they have to retake it now. Younger people tend to be less confident in their ability to pass, even though their test was only recently.

If the tests were actually taken, I think the failure rate has been much greater. Examiners look for many details that learner drivers practice for. After driving for a while most people just ignore these details and drive how they feel like.

Hopefully people will gain more confidence this year. We need confidence on the road. Not too much, but definitely not too little.

New UK Insurance Laws

Starting April of this year, Britain has some new laws regarding car insurance. Here is an article by showing the difference between the old situation and now.

New UK Car Insurance Laws - April 2011

From April 2011, it will be illegal to own a car in the UK that is not insured even if you don't drive or keep it on a public road unless you have a current and valid Statutory Off Road Notice (SORN) registered with the Driver & Vehicle Licencing Agency (DVLA).

This new law is being introduced in an effort to clamp down on the over 1 million un-insured drivers using their cars on UK roads every year. With the cost of insurance rising every year due to the increased number of claims involving these vehicles with no 3rd party insurance cover and a minimum of £30 added to the premium of law abiding citizens, the government and the motor insurance industry is finally taking the bull by the horn and dealing with this public menace.

Once the new car insurance laws come into effect, every car that is registered with the DVLA will have its details checked against the Motor Insurance Bureau (MIB) database, and the registered keeper of any vehicle that does not have insurance will automatically be contacted via an Insurance Advisory Letter (IAL), giving them steps they need to take to avoid action being taken against him/her.

Failure to get the car insured could result in:
1. A fine of £100.
2. The offending vehicle being immobilized, impounded and eventually destroyed.
3. The registered owner facing prosecution with a possible maximum of £1000.

In order for you not to fall foul of these new car insurance laws, you need to either get a minimum of 3rd party insurance cover on any vehicles registered in your name, or if the car is not being currently used, file a Statutory Off Road Notice with the DVLA informing them that it is kept off road (driveway, garage) and not currently being used or driven.

The government and the motor insurance industry is hoping that these new laws will drastically cut the number of un-insured cars being driven on UK roads and as a result a drop in insurance premiums for all law abiding citizens.

What To Do During The Test

The driving test is a nerve-wrecking experience for most people, and they often forget some basic principals. Here is an article I wrote about some basics for the test.

8 Important Things to Do While Taking Your Driving Test

Beginner drivers often feel nervous about taking their test. They are afraid that the examiner will be intimidating. And while they can indeed be intimidating, you need to understand that it's their job to ensure that only safe drivers get out onto the road. There's a reason they don't always pass beginner drivers: they know that it'll be dangerous to put somebody on the road when they're not prepared.

So, obviously, you need to be prepared! You need to practice, practice, and practice some more!

Learning how to drive isn't just about how to control a vehicle. You must learn all of the safety details. You need to learn how to read road signs and signals.

If you can remember to do the following when taking the test, you'll increase your chances of passing it.

• Before you begin to drive, look every which way to make sure that everything is clear.

• Don't forget to signal when you're about to turn! Learn how to use those turn signal controls properly.

• While taking the test, keep an eye out for the speed limit. Stay within the speed limit. Don't roll through the stop signs. Many, many new drivers make this mistake. Stop doesn't mean to slow down, it means to STOP!

• Whenever you change lanes, check the mirrors first. Make sure that there are no cars at your side, or behind you signaling that they're getting ready to pass.

• Try to parallel park as best you can. It doesn't have to be a challenge if you practice beforehand. You might need to hill park during the examination as well. When parking the car on an incline, don't forget to point the front wheels TOWARD the curb.

• Sometimes the examiner might try to trick you. For instance, he/she might not put the seatbelt on just to see if you will notice. They might also try to trick you into doing something illegal to see if you truly understand the rules.

• When lights turn green, proceed with care. Many people think that they can go on yellow just as long as they do so slowly. This isn't the case. In most places, yellow means to prepare to stop for a red light. Most drivers still go on yellow anyway, but you shouldn't during your driving test.
• Always expect the unexpected. Anything could happen at any time. Don't lose focus on the road. Your mind shouldn't wander. Always watch out for animals, pedestrians, children, mistakes made by other drivers, etc. If a ball rolls out onto the road, there might be a child running after it.

Keep these guidelines in mind and you will be able to pass the test with flying colors!

Improve your chances of passing the driving test by reading online guides! They contain secrets that will help you get through your road test without any problems. Take what you learn from these student driving guides and use the knowledge to help you pass both the written test and the road exam!

Getting your driver's license is not that hard. If you would like to pass your driving test without trying so hard, you should get yourself this amazing driving test guide.

I hope this article helped you,

Too Easy? Retake the Test

Sometimes when things go too easily, there is a reason for that. A Colorado driving school was shut down because it falisied tests, and all its students are now required to retake their tests.

The shut down occured because the FBI caught one of the examiners accepting bribe for a good score. This is the third time in eight years(!) this happens.

Hopefully people will realize now that if something isn't kosher, the authorities will find out about it, and everyone involved, even without knowing, will be punished.

A Quote Guide

Getting an insurance quote can be quite confusing, since not everyone understands the jargon used in the quote. Here is an article by explaining about insurance quotes.

A Guide To Auto Insurance Quotes

In recent years the price of insuring motor vehicles has increased. However it is a legal requirement to have it and therefore you need to make sure you get the best possible price. It is still possible to get cheaper prices and good deals if you are prepared to shop around and compare the different services available. The best way is to compare auto insurance quotes to find the best deals in your local area.

All insurance policies are decided on risk. A company looks at the statistics in a local area and decides how much a premium should be based on the amount of accidents. Often certain trends will occur meaning that some people will pay considerably more than others.

In some cases these factors are beyond their control. Men are often more expensive to cover than women. This is because according to statistics they are more likely to have accidents. Furthermore when they do have an accident the repair bill is likely to be more expensive. This is why there are some companies that exclusively cater for women in order to offer them the lowest possible premiums.

Another group that is often specially catered for are older drivers. They tend to be more experienced and therefore will not have as many accidents as younger drivers. This means that premiums for them will be considerably lower as the companies do not have to spend as much on repairs.

In simple terms then the group that seems to pay the most are young, male drivers. However there are ways of getting a cheaper deal that apply to everyone. Knowing how to get a better deal can often help save a lot of money. One of the simplest is to compare prices. Because each company will have their own set of statistics, one company may report more accidents in one area than another. Therefore one may often be cheaper than another.

Getting a voluntary deductible often helps to lower the price as well. This is where you agree to pay for the repairs up to a certain amount. It is best to calculate what you can afford before you contact a company. It is very risky to agree a higher deductible if you cannot afford the potential repairs.

There are also a number of other discounts that may be available. Some companies will offer a discount if you agree to a voluntary safer driving course. Others may offer further discounts for security devices on your vehicle or if you are in a neighbourhood watch area. These are all things that you should discuss with an insurer. Ask them to specifically list what discounts are available as some may not be listed on their website or in other advertisements.

Three auto insurance quotes are often enough to help you compare the different services and prices in your local area. Be prepared to negotiate. In some cases you may not get a cheaper price but you may be able to get extra cover. Look online for price comparison sites and company directories in your local area to get the best deal.

Everyone has different needs, look at Ontario insurance quotes to help you find what you are looking for.

Three Pitfalls to Avoid

Practicing for your driving test can be really hard if you're doing something wrong. Here is an article I wrote about what to really avoid.

Passing Your Driving Test - 3 Things You Should Avoid Doing

The truth of the matter is that you are here for the simple reason that you would really want to become a better driver. Well, whether you want to do this simply because you want to pass your driving test or so that you can be a better road user, you are in the right place. Here, we are not going to give you tips on what you can do so that you can get your driver's license when all the people around you are struggling to get theirs, but we are going to show you how to get your driving license when some around you are doing all they can not to get theirs.

Never Arrive Late

One of sure way of ensuring that you do not get your drivers license is arriving late for the driving test. By arriving late, you are telling the people who are examining you that you are not serious about getting your license at all. This is definitely not the kind of message that you would like to pass to anyone who is in a position to determine whether or not you will get your license. To ensure that you do not make the mistake of arriving late, you must make sure that on the day of the test, you wake up early and set the day aside for the test and nothing else.

Never Arrive At The Test Venue When Drunk

The other thing that you should never do if you are serious about looking for your driver's license is to arrive at the venue of the test when you are drunk. There are so many accidents all over the world that are caused as a result of drunk driving, or driving under the influence of an intoxicating substance. If you arrive the test zone when you are drunk, you will simply be telling the examiners that you really do not care so much about road safety.

Avoid Panicky Behavior

Apart from arriving for the test while you are drunk or arriving late for the test, the other common reason why people fail their driving tests is simply because of the fact that they arrive for the test when they are in a panic mode. This causes them to even forget the very simple rules on driving, something that portrays them as being unqualified. If you are calm, you will be able to manage yourself properly and not make a fool of yourself.

Getting your driver's license is not that hard. If you would like to pass your driving test without trying so hard, you should get yourself this amazing driving test guide.

I hope this will help you,

Commercial Car Insurance Advice

If you drive a commercial vehicle, you must get special insurance for it. Here is an article by that will help you get the best insurance.

Commercial Car Insurance Advice For 2011

Needing commercial car insurance is a question which small business owners face all the time. Do I need it or can I just continue with my normal coverage? The answer is yes, you do need it for your business car.

Commercial insurance protects a small business owner when it comes to accidents. It protects their business as well. Legally speaking, some personal insurance companies will not cover your business vehicle. The difference between a business vehicle and a personal vehicle is its purpose. Commercial vehicles are only used for traveling related to work, which really means travel to and from work as well as job related travel.

Commercial car insurance rates are usually lower than personal car insurance and it also covers any driver related to the company. This means that the car can be used by any employee of the company on this company policy.

To find the best rates on commercial insurance, it is best to compare car insurance company's quotes. You can get this simply by entering the model, year, and make of your company's car into most auto insurance websites. Comparing quotes will allow your company to select the best quote as well as the best coverage for what you need. (see each state's laws for more information on insurance requirements for commercial vehicles.)

These simple steps will help your small business, or large business, grow and flourish with the best car insurance possible. The three things to keep in mind is that as a small business owner you are better protecting your business as well as yourself from third party claims, you can lower your rates by adding on more than one company car to this insurance policy, and that insurance rate quotes are fast and simple to find online.

Save up to $500 on your next Car Insurance Quote. Learn more about the insurance market and how to lower your premiums. View the best resources that will save you extra money. Find valuable advice related to Online Car Insurance!

I hope this helped you. Thank you John!

Why People Fail

Failure in a driving test has many reasons, but some are more common than others. Here is an article discussing the common reasons.

Passing The Driving Test – A Look At The Reasons Why People Fail Their Tests

Every year, we have thousands of people who sit for their driving tests. When they go to sit for the tests, they are usually hopeful that at the end of the day, they will be able to proudly walk with their driving license to their homes. Unfortunately a good number of people usually go back home very disappointed because they fail to do well on their tests. It is for this reason that this particular article has taken the time to look at the reasons why these people normally do not perform very well on these tests.

They Ignore the Theory

The first reason why people do not really perform very well is simply the fact that they do ignore the theory. For many people, driving is something that is done when one's hands are on the steering wheel and one's foot on the accelerator. However, this is only part of the story when you are sitting for your test. You need to be thoroughly acquainted with the theory just as you are acquainted with the practical, if you really want to go home with your driving license.

They Do Not Practice Enough

Theoretically, learning to drive car does not need one to take more than 10 minutes on the steering wheel. All that one needs to know is how to start a car, accelerate, stop it, and reverse it. If it is a manual car, then one needs to know how to change the gears. However, the truth of the matter is that becoming a great driver needs some level of commitment, and one needs to practice a lot. Without enough practice, one is always at the risk of making some stupid blunders that could easily have been avoided if one took the time to practice more.

Panicking About The Test

People who panic are likely to perform very poorly when it comes to the driving test. The reason why I am saying this is simply because of the fact that when you make the mistake of panicking, you are likely to lose your grip on even very simple matters. You will find that you may break abruptly, reversing becomes a problem and eve simple things such as indicating where your are going become humongous tasks. It is extremely important that you remain calm to make sure that you your best during the test. This way, you will definitely succeed.

Getting your driver's license is not that hard. If you would like to pass your driving test without trying so hard, you should get yourself this amazing driving test guide.

I hope this article helped you understand what to avoid.

Who Parks Better - Men or Women?

The gender fight over who's better at parking will probably never end, but the UK driving test numbers don't lie.

Nearly a third of women who failed their UK driving test did because of parallel parking errors. Their overall passing numbers are lower than men - 50.7% pass rate for men, 44.1% for women.

However, men fail more because of moving too fast and jumping lights. Which sex is a better driver? The debate will probably go on forever.

California Auto Insurance Laws

Auto insurance isn't cheap everywhere, and especially in California. The death toll there increases daily, and there is no end to that in the horizon. Here is an article by that will help you understand what you're required to purchase.

A Guide To California Auto Insurance Laws

Every state within the United States has different laws pertaining to car insurance minimums and requirements. The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and the Public Utilities Commission set the requirements for car insurance within California. These requirements are mandated by law and are required to obtain vehicle registration within the state. If you don't follow the auto insurance laws, you run the risk of having your license suspended, vehicle possessed, high fines, and even criminal charges. This is to say if you don't get in an accident. If you get in an accident and don't meet the requirements, you can face an extreme financial burden and be left holding the full costs of the accident.

In the state of California, private passenger vehicles are required to have minimum liability insurance, as outlined in California Insurance Code (§11580.1b). The minimum requirements are:

  • $15,000 for injury/death to one person.

  • $30,000 for injury/death to more than one person.

  • $5,000 for damage to property.

Liability insurance covers a person other than the policy holder in the event of personal injury or property damage. Comprehensive, also known as collision insurance does not cover these types injuries or damages. Comprehensive insurance will cover damages out of your control, such as fire, vandalism, theft or natural disasters.

In California, if you cannot afford the minimum liability car insurance coverage, individuals may qualify for the California Low Cost Auto Insurance Program. Specific details of this program can be found out by visiting your local DMV office.

When registering a vehicle, if involved in an accident, or when requested by law enforcement, you may be required to fully disclose your car insurance coverage. In addition to your insurance card, the DMV may require the following documentation:

  • A DMV authorized letter

  • California Proof of Insurance Certificate (SR-22)

  • Evidence that the vehicle is owned or leased by the individual stated

  • A Notification of Alternative Forms of Financial Responsibility

  • A statement of facts or affidavit which makes claim of meeting insurance requirements

Following the California insurance laws doesn't have to break the bank, every six months or so, It can be a good idea to get new quotes based on your current record. Every 3 years, accidents and traffic tickets drop off your record. In addition, as you get older, gain more driving experience, change jobs, re-locate, your car insurance costs can decrease. Online websites have made it easy for consumers to compare rates and receive quotes from insurance providers in their area that know the laws and can offer the biggest discounts.

At the end of the day, it's important to be sure you're fully insured based on the state requirements to avoid unnecessary expenses and risk facing civil and even criminal charges.

To get recent quotes on cheap car insurance, drivers in California can use Quote Dash to complete their vehicle and driver profile. Once submitted, you can obtain cheap california car insurance from a broad network of agents and insurance companies that will compete for your business.
