Knowledge is Power, Especially in Insurance

When purchasing insurance, it's important to be knowledgeable. Otherwise you could find yourself paying too much or undercovered. Here is an article by Jerry Keith about some insurance knowledge.

Help Yourself by Knowing More About Auto Insurance!

There are many people who find auto insurance quite confusing and tricky. It is because of this reason people recommend to get maximum knowledge about the types of insurance before one gets himself engaged in any kind of insurance plan. You need to understand the type of options you have and then must analyze all those options to understand which one would lead to money saving. There are various types of coverage like underinsured/uninsured motorist coverage, rental reimbursement, roadside assistance, gap coverage and comprehensive coverage that tend to provide protection to the clients for a little price increase.

The most expensive coverage out of these options is the comprehensive coverage but its value is meaningless when it is compared with the liability coverage and the collision coverage. On the whole, the underinsured/uninsured motorist coverage has a lot of benefits and is usually preferred by many people. Generally it is believed that spending few bucks more on insurance policies will save a lot of money in future.

There seems to be no fixed insurance rate as it is dependent on various factors. The insurance companies use different criteria when evaluating various insurance applications at the time of underwriting. They have clear guidelines related to the groups of drivers they accept and how much they would charge to those groups which they find risky. Such guidelines vary from company to company and you may need to compare them closely before making any decision.

At the time of underwriting, the applicants are categorized according to the number of claims the company thinks it may have to pay. There are different types of software used for the underwriting process in auto insurance. The records of the motor vehicle are checked to determine how many tickets or accidents the driver has received over time. Most of the insurance companies check insurance history report as well to get an idea whether the driver has made any sort of insurance claims and the amount that was paid to him. The numbers of accidents and the violations have a direct impact on the rates the individual receive for three years.

However, there are some companies that check the applicant's history for five years before deciding whether to offer him insurance or not. The credit history of the applicant is also checked. They do not look at the credit report but primarily use it to determine the group in which he belongs to.

There are different commercials saying that switching to a certain insurance company can let you save some money. This clearly indicates that the insurance price tends to vary tremendously. On the whole, the auto insurance industry is highly competitive. The most effective way to reduce the insurance cost is just to 'shop around'. You would need to survey the market thoroughly and compare the price and the service provided by each insurance company. At first, you may find it quite difficult but you will surely find a good auto insurance provider that offers a good price and ensures excellent service.

It is a hard fact that more knowledge about auto insurance will never do harm for you. So make sure you get the best auto insurance agents to get the perfect insurance according to your needs.

Overcome Your Anxiety

Anxiety during the driving test is not rare, but in extreme cases you may want to read this article to help you get over it.

Driving Test Tips for Overcoming Driving Anxiety

Are you feeling very nervous about taking your driving test? Are you so nervous that you are afraid of taking it? You can overcome your fear of driving! You don't have to let your nerves get the best of you. As long as you have a proper plan in place, you should be able to become a good driver. You can learn the rules of the road and feel confident behind the wheel.

Did you know that people who experience driving anxiety actually make the safest drivers? You just need to overcome your fear enough to pass your test so that you can finally get your license.

Here are some tips for overcoming driving anxiety:

• First things first, find out what is causing the anxiety, and try to overcome it. Is it due to an accident you were involved in as a child? Did you witness a horrific car accident? Whatever it may be, speak to a therapist who can guide you into thinking more positively.

• Start making yourself as comfortable as possible. Start sitting in the driver's seat when the car is in park. Put your hands on the wheel and get used to the feel of it. When you practice driving, keep a first aid kit and some water in the car. Keep anything and everything that will provide you with comfort when you go for a drive.

• When practicing, have somebody with you whom you can trust. This individual should be able to stay calm in any situation. He or she should help you to understand where you need to make improvements. If you do something incorrectly, they should tell you what you did wrong and what you can do to NOT make that mistake again.

• If you start to feel nervous when you get into the car, stretch your arms. Take some deep breaths. Think positive. Keep telling yourself "I can do this. I can drive. I will do fine." Maintain a positive attitude and you will feel less nervous.

• Do your homework! Read all of the written material you can find about driving laws in your area. Practice driving around the testing center. Take a look at a map of the area and practice driving on every road, junction, corner, and turn you come across. Have your instructor with you.

• Try to get as much sleep as you can. Make sure you're eating well enough. Keep your body healthy and you will feel better mentally. Practice driving when you are in a good mood.
As long as you keep these tips in mind, you should be able to overcome driving anxiety. Good luck on passing the test!

Check out some practice tests, tools, guides, and videos to help you learn how to drive. You can find all of the information you need to pass your road exam online. Knowing in advance what to expect during the exam will give you more confidence.

Auto Insurance in Texas

Texas is a huge state with many rules regarding insurance. Here is another article by Randolph S Hess, this time about Texas.

TexasSure Auto Insurance

Car accidents are serious events that can cause untold devastating consequence to those involved. What would you do if you are injured by a motorist with no insurance? You Bodily Injury Liability covers injuries you to cause to other, but Personal Injury Protection (PIP) or the other drivers insurance is responsible for injuries you suffer. If you want to protect yourself from substantial financial and medical costs resulting from an automobile accident it is certainly a wise ideal to have uninsured motorist coverage. Uninsured motorist coverage covers you, when the other driver is at fault and has no insurance.

The amount of drivers without valid insurance is on the raise again according to the Insurance Research council. Approximately one in six drivers in the United States may be driving without insurance. The number of uninsured drivers began rising in 2009 and it is believed that the economic downturn may be a major factor.

The state of Texas has implemented a new program that allows law enforcement to immediately check to see whether the vehicle is insured. It is estimated that 20% of all Texas vehicle are uninsured at any given time. The use of deceptive scams to circumvent the insurance system by making fake proof of insurance or by dropping insurance after a new card has been issued is over promises the Texas Department of Insurance.

The program which passed the Texas legislature, Senate Bill 1670 is designed to cut down on uninsured motorist in the state. The state believes that with this improved technology the verification program will improve overall driver safety, be cost effective and protect the privacy of the vehicle owner.

Once you have established financial responsibility through an auto insurance policy, your insurance company will report that information to the state. The information will be stored in a data base that can accessed by law enforcement in real time to certify that the motor vehicle has a current and valid certificate of insurance. TexasSure will be accessible by vehicle registration offices, sheriff officers, local police, and the Department of Public Safety.

The current law in Texas forbids anyone to operate a motor vehicle with a valid certificate of insurance. Texas auto insurance requires you carry $30,000/$60,000 in bodily injury protection and $25,000 in property damage.

Driving without in insurance is a bad idea. First time offenders are subject to a $350 fine, plus court costs and additional fees may also be assessed. Repeat offenders face fines of $1,000 and a two year suspension of their driver license. If you are stopped by law enforcement you are still required to show valid proof of insurance, even if TexasSure verifies your coverage, so it is best to keep that card with you at all times.

The state estimates that there are currently 4 million vehicles operating in the Texas that are not up to date or potentially uninsured. TexasSure began sending notices to the registered owners of these vehicles in June 2010. Recipients are provided with the vehicle registration information on file and specific guidance to help them correct the situation. A customer call center is also available for assistance.

Almost Accident

On Tuesday I attended a very interesting stock investment lecture (it was really a sales pitch, yet very interesting). On the way home, on relatively free roads, I almost had an accident.

When I exited the freeway, I arrived at a traffic light with two lanes. The right lane was right turn only and the left lane was for all directions. I was at the left lane, waiting to turn right. When the light turned green, I started to turn.

The driver on the right lane tried to go straight ahead, which was illegal. As you can imagine, this leads to an accident. Fortunately, both of us noticed this on time and the accident was avoided.

I continued home shocked. My only regret is that there wasn't a police car nearby to fine this idiot.

My grandfather said that it takes two to make an accident: an idiot and a driver who didn't notice the idiot. Don't be either one.

Get the Right Mindset

Driving tests, like all other tests, require the right mindset. To help you achieve that, here is an article I wrote.

How to Get the Right Mindset for Passing Your Driving Test

If you are planning to take your driving test soon, you are probably feeling nervous and stressful. You might even be sick to your stomach. Letting your worries get the best of you will NOT help you pass at all. In fact, focusing on your worries will increase your chances of FAILING.

What you need to do is develop a positive mindset. People who think positive and have confidence in themselves will pass with flying colors.

Here are some tips for developing the right mindset:

• Try mental strategy techniques. Visualize yourself as a driver. Just close your eyes and imagine yourself driving with confidence during the test. Imagine how happy you will be when you are told that you've passed. Do this mental strategy at least three or four times a day.

Imagine yourself being a good driver - do NOT visualize yourself making any mistakes.

• Whenever you start to feel nervous, try breathing exercises. Just concentrate on nothing but your breathing for a few minutes. Sit up straight while you're doing this. Focused breathing is a highly-effective method of dealing with anxiety.

• Keep repeating a positive mantra over and over again. "I can drive. I will do great on my test. I will pass the test effortlessly." Even if you don't believe these statements at first, keep repeating them anyway. In time, you will.

• Don't think of the examiner as a scary person. They were just as nervous as you once. They had to take their test once too. Despite what you might think, they actually WANT you to pass. They don't want to be mean. They just take their job seriously since it requires putting safe drivers on the road. Don't mistake their seriousness for meanness. Try thinking of the examiner in a more positive light, and you will have a better frame of mind during the test.

• Many people underestimate self-hypnosis. It can actually be effective. Every day, for about 15 - 20 minutes, relax in a chair and listen to a self-hypnosis CD or MP3 for success. It might take a few days for the information to start getting in your brain, but it will. You can also listen to a self-hypnosis CD for motivation so that you will feel motivated to practice more.

• One of the best things you can do is not fear your weaknesses. So you're not good at parallel parking. Instead of worrying about it, keep practicing it until you get better! Don't worry about your weaknesses. View them simply as something that you need to work. Believe that you will be able to improve, and you will improve.

You can get all of help you need by taking an online driving course. You can find driving test secrets, tools, resources, and videos online. If you haven't taken your test yet, you will find everything you'll need to pass on the first try. If you've taken the test and failed, you won't have to worry about your next try - you WILL pass!

Getting your driver's license is not that hard. If you would like to pass your driving test without trying so hard, you should get yourself this amazing driving test guide.

Older Cars - Better Insurance?

Sometimes people wonder whether older cars, with a lower value, will lead to a lower insurance premium. To answer that, you are welcome to read the following article by Jonathan L Nelson.

Are Auto Insurance Rates Better for Older Vehicles?

Should the age or value of my vehicle have any impact on what I pay for car insurance?

This question is asked quite often in the insurance world because a lot of people consider auto insurance as protection for their car! I guess it's easy to see why, most commercials and advertisements emphasize damage done to vehicles (I'm currently thinking of the one where guy hits his car with a hammer). But, there is a lot more to auto insurance than what meets the eye, so let's look at some reasons why insurance premiums are not as dependent on the value of your car as you may think.

For example, liability coverages are probably one the most important reasons to purchase car insurance. This is the part that comes in to save the day (or at least your assets) when you're involved in an at fault auto accident. For example, say you get into a small fender bender, your liability coverages will pay the other party (if you're at fault) for property damage done to their vehicle. This may add up to around $1000 to $5000, depending on the amount of damage. Not a huge loss for an insurance company but let's say the person inside suffered a whiplash injury that resulted in hospital bills and even followup care. So what started out as a simple fender bender is now a $90,000 claim! What if someone died in the accident? Survivor benefits can be astronomically high, they could even enter the $1 million territory.

Now, it's rare for something like that to happen but the insurance companies are aware the risk they take when insuring a driver, especially one with high limits of liability. In cases like these, it doesn't matter if you were driving a new Lexus or an old Honda.

Other coverages, such as Underinsured and Uninsured Motorists, Medical Pay, etc are also not subject to the value of your car. The reason is because it makes no difference if people are injured in a 2012 Cadillac or 2008 Cadillac, the loss would be the same regardless.

Ok, if my rate is not dependent on how much my vehicle is worth, how can I get it lower?

Great question, if you're not interested in doing some shopping, you could consider increasing your deductible. Going from $250 to $500 can put some extra money in your pocket. If you already have $500 deductibles, you could go to a $1000 but remember that you're going to have to pay that before any claim can be processed. Also, if your vehicle is financed, there may be a requirement to keep the deductible below a certain point (typically $500).

If you own your vehicle outright, you could always consider self insuring it. Find out how much your vehicle is currently worth at today's market value, and calculate how much additional premium it takes to insure it. So, if you pay $600 for six months with physical damage, and only $450 for liability, that comes to $300 a year to insure the car. Before making that decision, ask yourself: "Could I afford to replace this car if it gets stolen or in an accident?". If the answer is no, you probably don't want to remove physical damage coverage.

Other than increasing deductibles, it's not a bad idea to look at getting a comparison quote. This is an insurance estimate that compares various companies and their rates to see which one offers the best value. Company A might quote $700 for six months while Company B offers a rate of $400 for six months. Change cars and you may see Company A offer a better deal, this why it's good to ask a local independent agent for "what if" comparison quotes while shopping for new vehicles!

I hope this helps anyone who is looking to curtail their insurance premiums.

The Night Before and Morning of the Test

One of the most important factors for the result of a driving test is preparation. Preparation is not only practice, but sleeping well and eating well. Here is an article I wrote about it (of course, there is much more detail in my driving test guide).

Preparing for Your Driver’s License Test: What to do the Night Before and the Morning of the Test

So, you've been practicing for your driver's test. You've been driving and studying. Even if you're feeling confident, you still might a bit nervous. Nobody is completely anxious-free before they take their road test. The good news is that you can reduce that stress significantly. You can be relatively calm on the day of the test.

On the night before the test, just take the following steps to prepare:

• Go around and inspect the vehicle. Make sure there are no cracks in the mirrors or windshield. The lights should all be working properly. You should be able to turn on the signal, air conditioner, wipers, defrost, horn, emergency brakes, and so forth.

• You might want to go ahead and clean the car while you're at it. Having a squeaky clean vehicle won't help you pass the test, but it will make you appear more presentable. You will feel more comfortable driving a clean car.

• Make sure the mirrors are adjusted so that you can see everything on the road. During the test, the examiner will be testing you to see if you use the mirrors properly.

• Eat a big dinner so that you won't go to bed hungry. If your stomach is full, you'll be able to fall asleep more easily. If you have trouble falling asleep, drink some valerian tea or chamomile tea.

• As you drift off to sleep, think positive thoughts. Keep telling yourself "Tomorrow is going to be fine. I will go through the test smoothly. I WILL pass!"

What to do the day of the test:

• Wake up early and eat a big breakfast. Gather up the paperwork and documents that you will need. You will need your learners permit, proof of registration, insurance information, your birth certificate, and social security card. If you're unsure about what to take, call the DMV to ask.

• Leave early so that you will arrive in plenty of time before the test. If there is anything you need extra practice on, such as uphill parking, practice it before you leave. You might also want to practice your hand signals before taking the test.

• Go over all of the controls, if you have time. Do a quick refresher on how to use the wipers, signals, headlights, air conditioner, etc. Knowing how to use the vehicle's controls and instruments properly will show that you are confident on the road.

• Be polite to your examiner. Remember that they are just doing their job. They aren't out to get you. They take their job seriously, so take your test seriously.

Hopefully, these tips will help you to prepare for the driving test. Just try your best to stay calm and positive.

Take a look at driving test guide right now and get the information and resources you need for passing. You can impress your friends and family by passing on the very first try. If you've already tried and failed, you will find the driving tips you need for passing on your next exam.

Getting your driver's license is not that hard. If you would like to pass your driving test without trying so hard, you should get yourself this amazing driving test guide.

But two weeks ago, after 58 years, she finally did it. Her friend fell ill and she wanted to get a license. After failing two tests, she passed the third and got her driver's license.

This means that if you don't practice and don't try (or just don't practice with the right driving test guide you'll have a very hard time passing.

Auto Insurance in Mississippi

Every US state has some different rules and regulations regarding auto insurance, and it's always good to learn about your own. So if you live in Mississippi, you should keep reading this article by Randolph S Hess.

Mississippi Auto Insurance

If you are going to operate a motor vehicle in the state of Mississippi, you are required by state law to carry a minimum of $25,000 in Bodily injury protection per person and $50,000 per accident. You must also carry $25,000 in Property damage coverage. There are three ways for you to satisfy these requirements for Mississippi auto insurance.

1. You can carry coverage with a licensed insurer that meets those requirements.

2. You can post a bond for those same amounts with the state.

3. You can make a cash deposit or security deposit equal to those minimum requirements with the state.

Carrying auto insurance is the most convenient way to make sure you are complying with the law. It is illegal to be stopped by law enforcement simply to check whether or not you have proof of coverage, however if you are stopped you must show proof. If you cannot provide proof of insurance you can be cited with a violation and face a fine of $1,000 and suspension of you license until such proof can be provided.

Keep in mind these coverages only cover injury to others when you are at fault. It also covers damages to others' property up to the minimum limits. It does not cover damage to your vehicle or injuries you sustain in the event you are found to be at fault. For that you would need to purchase collision and medical insurance. Collision insurance covers damages done to your vehicle when you are at fault. Remember your insurance only covers you to the limits on your policy. If the damage is greater you will be responsible for damages over that amount. Medical insurance would pay your medical expenses and also any physical therapy that is prescribed by a doctor.

Mississippi auto insurance is governed by a Tort System. If you are involved in an auto accident, someone must be held liable for the cause of the accident. The person at fault is generally responsible for all damages. Compensation for claims is the responsibility of the person found to be at fault. Being that Mississippi is a Tort state, it is usually recommend that driver's consider carrying greater limits than just the state minimums requirements.

Mississippi does not require uninsured motorist coverage. If you are involved in an accident with an uninsured driver you must pay for injuries and damages yourself. Uninsured motorist are on the rise on our nations roads, it is a wise idea to purchase uninsured motorist coverage. With uninsured motorist coverage you can make a claim with your insurance company to cover injuries and damage.

Dealing With Driving Issues

When you practice for your driving test, it's important to face issues before they become a real problem that affects your training. Here is an article I wrote about it.

Practicing for Your Driver’s Test - Tips for Dealing with Any Problems You Might be Experiencing

We all know that we can't drive without a driver's license, yet so many of us are too nervous to pass the test. Getting a license is easier said than done. Many people end up failing on the first couple of tries. You don't have to fall into this category if you study and practice. If you have already failed the test, you shouldn't let it get to you. Just study harder and keep practicing.

If you are having any problems, here are a few things for you to consider:

• Are you practicing with the right person? The person with whom you practice should be a responsible adult who will be able to provide you with constructive criticism. They shouldn't yell at you or berate you. At the same time, they shouldn't just lie back and not bother to tell you when you mess up. They should provide you with constructive criticism AND encouragement.

• Are you practicing in the right areas? If you're feeling too nervous when you practice, then you might not be practicing in the right places. Go back to the quiet roads and get to know them really well before going on to the busy roads.

• Have you been practicing on the test routes? You can find information about test routes online. Look over the streets where you will be tested on Google Maps, and go practicing driving on them. Make sure you are comfortable driving on them before you take the road exam.

• Do you know all of the rules of the road? Be sure to check out online driving guides. You can learn a lot of information from them. You'll learn all there is to know about driving, signs, road conditions, and rules of the road. If you haven't yet taken the written exam, you can find practice tests online.

• Are you reading horror stories? Are your friends telling you about their horrible experiences? IGNORE THEM! Try to stay positive. If you put focus on horror stories, you will get nervous. Nervousness leads to mistakes.

• Are you having trouble with parallel parking? Just watch tutorial videos. You can find them on the internet. They will show you, step-by-step, how to parallel park. While you're at it, check out some instructional drawings. Looking over simple drawings can be very effective.

The most important thing for you to do is remain positive. You can have confidence in your driving abilities without being arrogant. Acknowledge your weaknesses and work on them. Instead of worrying that you might mess up, work hard on making improvements. Just keep on practicing!

There are plenty of resources on the internet. Check out a student driver guide to learn about the rules of the road. Online guides provide you with the information you need to practice driving. You can also learn secrets on how to pass the road test!

Getting your driver's license is not that hard. If you would like to pass your driving test without trying so hard, you should get yourself this amazing driving test guide.

First Time Driving: Pakou

A Nissan and a huge, empty road is what you need to learn how to drive. Pakou's mother (and someone else) took her to one of those to drive for the first time.

This video is from April 23, so Pakou still has a very long time until she can get her license. She's doing pretty well here, but the real test is on the road.

Good luck!

Ghana Goes Digital

Ladies and gentlemen, progress is coming to Africa. The Ghana DVLA announced that a new computer-based theory test will go into effect soon, eliminating the need for the paper exam.

From my experience, this new technology is good news. When I took the theory test I had to wait in line for two hours and the test was conducted on Wednesdays only. Today it runs every day for 11 hours, much cheaper, and there are no waiting time.

Good luck, Ghana!
