2010 just started, and I already made a great discovery. When the car is full, steering and accelerating become harder. Much harder.

Well, it's not like I didn't know that. I've driven full cars in the past, but I just found out how hard it is to drive a full car at night, in a new road I've never driven on. The car doesn't react like I want it, and I'm used to have at most one more person with me. It wasn't so pleasant.

Eventually I arrived at my house, but it's an experience I don't want to repeat soon.

Repeating stories here can get quite boring, but more fraud stories, like the one three weeks ago, are never boring.

This time, the Driving Standards Agency, Britains DMV, caught two people who took driving tests for other people. The two posed as their clients and took their test. However, they were not that good. Out of 35 tests, they only managed to pass 10 in one and a half years.

Now all there is to do is find the ten lucky people and take away their licenses. It's as simple as that.

The Sad Truck Case

Trucks are slow. This sentence is obvious to everyone on planet earth except truck drivers. They think their vehicles are the fastest on the road, so they don't have to move aside even if there are ten cars behind them.

In some places, a vehicle must clear the road if there are five or more vehicles behind it. I'm not sure if that's the case here as well, but I'll be glad if some truck drivers would at least apply this little law out of courtesy.

Sadly, as much as I know truck drivers here, the chance for such behavior is slim. All I can do is keep hoping.

Once a Criminal, Always a Criminal

Gregory Gordon is a road criminal. In 1994 he was involved in a crash that caused the death of a policeman. He was jailed for nine years and his license was revoked for life.

But it seems like the law does not bother Gordon. Apparently, he was driving drunk when a deputy saw him. Since he refused to give a sobriety test, he was considered a drunk driver. He was charged with drunk driving, driving without a license, and refusing to submit a sobriety test. Definitely not the driver we want on the roads.

Hopefully he will not return to his driving in the near future. We don't need those drivers nearby.

Attending a taxi school will be necessary if you live in or near New York City and want to become a taxi driver to earn a dependable living. When you go to taxi school and become a taxi driver in New York City, you can work part-time or full-time exploring one of the busiest cities in the world.

To get your hack license, you will need to know your way around the city. You are required to take some classes in local geography so that you have the knowledge to navigate successfully.

Here is the deal. We all need to make a living and you are probably no exception. If you have rent coming up or if you are otherwise short of cash, all you need to do is put in a several shifts in your yellow cab.

And if you need some time to put your feet up for a while or take some time off as a New York City taxicab driver, you will have the freedom to do just this. Leave work and then come back as you want to, not beholden to any company or schedule. You are your own boss. It is a great way to work.

If you want to become a taxi driver, you will first need to pass the New York City Taxi Operators Exam. To study for the exam, you will need study materials from where you take your training.

To qualify and become a taxi driver, you need to be at least 19 years of age and have a relatively clean driving record. You also need a New York State Class E driving license. Licenses from Connecticut, Pennsylvania or New Jersey are also allowed as long as they are of a similar class. If you do not have one of these licenses, you need to visit the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and they will give you a New York State license.

You cannot have a probationary license if you want to be a cabbie. However, if your New York State drivers license is more than six months old, you can apply and take classes at a city approved taxi school so that you too can be a yellow cab driver.

When you become a taxi driver in the city, it is likely that you are going to meet interesting and famous people along with ordinary citizens. With this license, you can also drive any limousine or car service in New York City as well as the NYC yellow cab.

Get ready to become a taxi driver and be part of one of the most interesting jobs anywhere. And the money you will make can be most rewarding too.

The Return of the Rain

The last time I wrote about rain driving was the middle of November. Since then, rain has been a rare resource in the area, and except a few occasions, it was nearly unfelt. But yesterday it hit us, and it hit us hard.

Driving yesterday was nearly impossible. Luckily, I wasn't driving, I was only a passenger. I saw the conditions and said "Thank you" all the way. I really don't like rain driving. I am really impressed from the driver yesterday.

Hopefully I won't have much rain driving in the future. Rain is good, driving when it rains is not.

First Time Driving: Kari

When you drive with a relative, trust is a must. That's what Kari found out when she wanted to drive. Only after a long time her dad allowed her to get behind the wheel. The result is not so bad.

When you are convicted of driving under the influence or driving while intoxicated (DUI/DWI), one of the many penalties that a state may issue is a license suspension. Typically, for your first DUI conviction, you will have your license suspended for no longer than six months. For subsequent convictions, you may be stripped of your driver's license for a year or more.

Most people rely on an automobile as their primary means of transportation. A suspended license can limit a person's mobility and make it difficult to commute to work or visit family and friends. While this may seem like an unreasonable hardship, it is better to make other driving arrangements, such as taking the bus or carpooling, than to risk being pulled over without a valid license. If you are caught driving with a suspended license from a DUI/DWI, you risk being penalized even further.

If you are traveling within a couple of miles, try walking or biking to your destination, or look up a convenient bus route. You may find that you are able to save hundreds and even thousands of dollars that otherwise would be spent on gas.

First Time Driving: Ashley

I don't know what's right: there are many Ashleys in the world, or there are many Ashleys who upload a video of themselves driving for the first time. Any way you look at it, we have another Ashley today. Today we have hysterical laughing, loud voices, and a general feeling of a long progress ahead.
