Useless Cameras

Today, once again, I drove next to a speed camera. Once again, this experience proved how dangerous it is: most people slowed down (on a freeway), sometimes even more than the legal speed limit, just to be safe. No one knows the threshold for these cameras, so people want to be on the safe side.

So why are all these speed cameras there? For money. The state just wants more and more money, and the easiest way to do it is to tax speeding drivers on perfectly safe roads, just because it's possible.

I hope these will be removed someday. I know it's nothing but wishful thinking, but that's all I have.

The Lane Ignorers

Today I want to talk about a painful topic: lane ignorers. No, they are not people who drive on the left lane forever (those are lane hoggers). Lane ignorers are people who won't let anyone in their lane before them.

Usually, I'm going through very busy traffic on Thursdays. I drive on road which has two lanes merging into one, and as a result I need to consider drivers who want to merge left in front of me. But when I try to merge left, no one cares about me.

Those drivers are terrible. No matter how much I give them hints like starting to move in their lane and signaling for minutes, they ignore me. For them, I'm just air, and they won't let me in. This kind of behavior causes accidents. Luckily, I'm careful enough to avoid them.

Driving With Others

From this blog it seems like I drive day and night all across the country. Well, the truth is not really like this. I rarely drive during weekdays, so most of my driving is done on weekends.

Since I don't drive on weekdays, someone is taking me. In fact, I've ridden with many people, and it's not always a good experience. Some people just can't drive.

I've never been in a situation where I have to notify the driver about something dangerous he or she does, but some people have a really bad driving style. They take their foot off the gas often enough to make me sick, they brake unevenly, and in general, their driving is a disaster.

I wonder how driving with me is. Too bad I'll never be able to be the passenger when I'm driving...
