Want to Pass? Know Where to Live

What's your chance of passing the driving test in Ireland? Of course, if you are well prepared, you will probably pass, but statistics never lies. The overall passing rate is 51.8% (that's it!). However, this is not even close to the actual rates of specific RSA offices.

The Rathgar office in Dublin has the worst passing rates in Ireland. Only 30.6% of the people taking their test there pass, probably because of a tricky test route.

However, if you take the test in Sligo, your chances are more than doubled: 67.1%. This difference is, once again, due to the test route. An urban test is much more difficult. It's harder to handle city traffic during rush hour, and much easier to handle quiet areas with little traffic.

If you have a driving test guide, your chances will increase regardless of your test office. Try it.

The British Passing Chance

Do you live in London or Wales? If so, you are amongst an unlucky group of people who has the smallest chance of passing the driving test on the first time. I did not make this up, moneysupermarket.com made that research.

If you want to take only one driving test, you have a better chance if you live in Yorkshire or the north-east of England. It may be other examiners or just less crowded roads. Driving in London is not exactly the most pleasurable experience.

And one last tip for young drivers: don't be too excited to go behind the wheel this summer. As the article says, insurance premiums are going to be very, very high.

Good luck!
