Rainy Day

October is finally here, and the winter is soon to follow. After a long dry spell, rain finally hit the ground. Unfortunately, it also hit the roads.

When rain falls on roads after a long dry period, all oils and dirt come out and make the road very slippery. This is the perfect time to keep the car home.

I couldn't keep it home (had to drive), so I had to do something I really don't like: slow down. Not fun, but not so bad after all.

Spring Rain and Slippery Roads

May is usually the month when spring starts, but where I live it's almost the beginning of the summer. That's why last Thursday's rain was a big surprise for many people, especially careless drivers.

Rain after a long dry period can be deadly. Everything that sank inside the road, especially oil, floats to the surface and makes the road slippery. Not a great way to start a new month.

Crazy Rain

The rain is back, big time. The last weeks have been beautiful sunny days, perfect for driving. Last weekend, something changed. Suddenly, the one in charge of the rain found out that February should be a rainy day.

Of course, everyone slows down, the roads are slippery, and driving is a nightmare. But hey, at least we don't need to water the garden.

Weather Issues and Your Driving

Weather conditions are a factor that should be considered when driving. Rain driving is especially dangerous, since it can lead to skidding. Here is an excellent video by the California DMV about this problem.
