Going to Court Over Failures

Some people are bad drivers, but they just refuse to see it. For example, Ray Heffernan failed his tenth driving test after driving for 44 years(!). He became really upset and took this test to the court.

He told the judge that there is no way that all those marks of running stop signs and not signaling could have happened, but the judge said it can't be and ruled against him.

Perhaps Mr. Heffernan should get off the road and try a bus. That way no one goes to court and no one dies. From him.

The police game is very simple - you just need to avoid the police. The method is very simple: drive at the legal speed limit. When people see a police car on the road, they slow down to match the police's speed. Anyone who goes beyond that is pulled over.

And what happens after someone loses? Everything goes back to normal. One person is out, and everyone else speeds up and goes back to the old driving habits.

Driving Test Reforms

The British driving test is going to be changed. Starting this Monday (June 27), students will have to navigate to a destination themselves without instructions. The idea is to develop a sense of confidence so drivers could drive without instructions.

This change is the biggest change ever made in the test's 50 years of existence. Hopefully it will help reduce the number of accidents, although it's not focused on this.

Exception to this would be, if an insured driver accompanies them. In this case, they would be automatically covered under the insured driver's policy. On receiving their licence though, teenagers are required to obtain their own insurance cover.

Out-of-state tickets received will show up on your DMV records if that particular state happens to fall within the purview of the Driver's Licence agreement (DLA). Therefore, the insurance company would have access to all your DMV records from all those states that are a part of the DLA.

When purchasing a new car on borrowed money it makes sense to go in for gap insurance. In the event of an accident to your new car where it is damaged fully, the insurance cover would stretch up to a maximum to include the total outstanding dues of the borrowed money. That means over and above the insured amount, in case there is outstanding dues left to be paid off on the auto finance, gap insurance would take care of the difference.

Remember, look out for the type of insurance that fits you. Compare quotes online and locally then make your most important decision on what kind of insurance you would buy.

The New Renault

Many people think French cars are no good, but that's not the truth. Of course, they are not perfect, but no one is. My father just received a new Renault from his workplace, so I took a little ride to check it out.

The only two things I can say about it are its comfortable seats and fast acceleration (I'm not used to it in my i20). Everything else is pretty annoying. Especially the speedometer which shows 10, 30, 50, 70, etc. instead of 20, 40, 60, and so on. Every car on the planet has the latter, but they had to be special.

The cruise control is definitely a great addition, but it still doesn't help this car gas mileage, which is very bad.

I think I'll stick with my Hyundai.

More Pressure on Drug Testing?

If you drive while you are drunk, the police can check that immediately. They have devices that are approved by the government, so the police can arrest you right after the test.

However, if you drive while drugged, there is no way to know that unless you take a blood test. The British government tried to pressure in favor of a new drug analyzer, but its opposition put more pressure, and eventually the bill was withdrawn.

New Jersey Drivers Are Officially Bad

If you've ever been to New Jersey and complained about the drivers, you now have some proof. The GMAC insurance company has conducted a test to determine which state has the best drivers, and which states you should avoid.

Kansas once again scored highest, and Wyoming had the best pass ratio. New Jersey managed to move up two positions, to 48th. Amazing.
