September is finally over. To celebrate this, I'm going to show you a video that explains perfectly why driving in rain (or near a broken water pipe) can be dangerous - potholes.
Unfortunately for the driver, the car needs air to run and the exhaust needs to be free, or the engine will stall.
The bad month of September is gone (I really don't like this month), and better times are coming now with October.
Have a great weekend!

Most first time driving videos are from the US, with some from the UK as well. Today I have a video from the other side of the world - New Zealand. This time it's Ozawa trying to drive a manual car.
This video was uploaded last week, so Ozawa still has a long way to go until he gets his license. Hopefully he'll go past first gear next time (and learn that New Zealanders drive on the left).

The Effects of Age on Auto Insurance
The highest premiums for auto insurance are given to 16 year old boys. That is because the insurance companies discovered that they have the highest risk of having an accident. Here is an article by Joel A Paschall that describes what happens to premiums with age.
Why Age Affects the Cost of Auto Insurance
Your age plays a major role in how much you're going to pay for auto insurance. How much your auto insurance policy premium is going to be depends on a lot of factors, such as local area demographics, vehicle year, make and model, driving record and even gender. Premium quotes will vary as these factors change for each person. Insurance companies need to assess each quote application by taking all of these factors and coming up with a computed solution for your auto insurance premium. And these insurance companies can determine a lot about their driver by simply fitting them into an age slash location bracket.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has all the facts and statistics about teenage driving as well as other ages. And the numbers don't lie. The majority of drivers involved in accidents in the United States are people between the age of sixteen to nineteen by a ratio of four to one. And teenagers are more likely to get into a car accident in the evening and on the weekends when they aren't in school (that statistic makes a lot of sense). Along with that, teenagers as well as older drivers with poor driving records such as points on their Department of Motor Vehicles report will be pushed into a higher risk category. Also, if you live in a high risk area of the United States, that also magnifies your risk factor in the eyes of your insurance agency.
As you get older, the idea is that you become a more experienced driver and therefore fit into a lower liability level with your insurance company. Thus your insurance premiums reflect the gain in experience. However, if you fail to learn from your mistakes and continue to cause problems on the road, your car insurance premiums will reflect your lack of learning and stay the same or, in a lot of cases, increase.
Preventative thinking teaches us to always drive careful. This is a mode of operation that will hopefully govern how you drive. Realizing that the roads are filled with many hazards and perils and you must safely navigate through will give you the assurance that your insurance premiums will stay at moderate levels.
Also, if you are a student or even over a certain age, insurance companies offer special discounts to drivers who qualify for their discount programs. Make sure you check to see if these discounts apply to you.

The Hidden Police
Catching speeding cars is not a hard mission. All you have to do is hide somewhere along the road and wait for the first victim. Usually you'll find one in ten seconds.
That's how the police here operates. I was driving in a 60 km/h zone (around 37 mph), and I saw a police car hiding on the other side. Usually people drive much faster there, but when I drove back I was extra cautious. The police car was already gone. They caught their victim.

Keep Away to Pass
Last week we discussed what you need to do in order to pass. Today it's about what NOT to do.
Three Things You Must Keep Away From If You Want To Pass Your Driving Test
If you are thinking about getting a driver's license but you are worried that you might commit a stupid blunder that can easily coast you your chance, then you are not wrong. The truth of the matter is that many people who go to sit for their tests are usually very able drivers. In fact, some of the people fail to get the licenses are better drivers than some people who already have the driver's license. In this article, we are going to look at three things that you definitely should not do or get involved in, if at all you do not want to throw your driver's license away.
Being Late
The first thing that you should avoid at all costs on the day of the driving test is none other than lateness. If you are late on the date of the driving test, you are simply telling the examiners that you really do not consider the driver's license to be something that is important at all. For this reason, you should ensure that you turn up for the tests really early so that you do not mess up your chances of getting the license. You are also advised to make sure that on the date of the test, you put away other tings and concentrate on the test.
Drunkenness
One of the most foolish things that you can ever do is to go for the driving test when you are drunk. If you make the mistake of doing this, you will definitely regret. Right now, we have so many accidents all over the world that are caused by drunk driving. If you go to do your test and you are smelling of alcohol, you will definitely not even be given the chance to sit for the test, and this will be a direct and quick way of denying you a license.
Panic
The other thing that you must really do is to avoid panic. If you panic simply because you feel that, you are not likely to get the drivers license, then you will be increasing your chances of not getting the license. You need to know that despite the fact that getting a license is not a walk in the park, it is not rocket science either.
These three things are extremely important to take note of when considering how best to approach the issue of getting a license.
Getting your driver's license is not that hard. If you would like to pass your driving test without trying so hard, you should get yourself this amazing driving test guide.
Hopefully this article helped you,

Tips For Women's Car Insurance
Women often get discounts on their car insurance. It may seem unfair, but insurance companies are just following their statistics and give discounts to the less risky. Here is an article by Jason Habing that will help women around the world get cheaper insurance.
Tips For Women Getting Car Insurance
Did you know that women receive lower rates from car insurance companies? This is because they have statistically lower claims and claim costs. However, many women still pay too much for their car insurance. Here are some tips to avoid paying excessive auto insurance bills:
Explore All Of Your Options
One major mistake when looking for car insurance is to jump into the first choice available. It is crucial to look all around the internet and local listings for pricing, plans, and options. Picking the first option you find will result in you paying higher than necessary prices on your insurance.
Don't Feel Obligated To A Particular Agent
Just because you have home or life insurance with a certain agent doesn't mean you have to pick them for auto insurance as well. Sometimes certain companies are good at one thing, but bad at another. This remains true with insurance. Don't feel loyal to one person, explore your options.
Search For Discounts
Many women don't realize that they may qualify for numerous discounts. Discounts will help reduce your insurance payments even more... Here are some common discounts to look for:
Good Driver Discount - Are you a good driver? Don't have a history of speeding tickets or accidents? You will probably qualify for some sort of safe driving discount. Mention your driving history when searching for a quote.
Safe Vehicle Discounts - If you are driving a mini-van or other low profile vehicles, you can probably get some sort of discount. On the other hand, if you have a fast sports car, expect to pay higher premiums. Your vehicle choice will greatly influence your insurance premiums.
Education - Are you currently going to school? A good education can sometimes qualify you for a discount on your insurance.
Smoker/Non-Smoker - Yes, whether or not you smoke has a huge influence on your auto insurance prices. If you are a non-smoker, you may be able to get discounted car insurance.
Don't Jump Into Anything
As I mentioned earlier, choosing a car insurance provider is a huge decision. Never jump into a particular deal. Instead, explore all of your options. Also, rest on it. Sleep on a couple of choices and then decide the next day.
Hopefully this information will help you make a good decision about where you will get your auto insurance. As a woman, you will have special discounts as it is, so make sure that you get full benefit of your good driving habits!

Make Sure You Pass
Passing a driving test is not a sure thing. However, there are some things you can do to make sure you will get your license at the end. Here is an article I wrote about it.
What You Can Do To Make Sure That You Pass Your Driving Test
The fact that you are here simply means one thing: you are looking for an opportunity to own a driver's license. That is a very noble idea you have, and many people have been able to lay their hands on this much coveted document. Although getting it is not a walk in the park, it is also very important to take cognizant note of the fact that the whole process is not that difficult either. It is just that sometimes you can meet someone who did not manage to get the driving license the first time that person sat for it, and so the person may end up discouraging you to a great extent. In this article, we are going to look at some of the things that you can actually do so that you can increase your chances of laying hold of the driver's license.
Practice A Lot
The first thing that you need to do if at all you would like to lay your hands on the coveted driving license is to make sure that you do a lot of practice. One thing that you need to is to practice a lot. If you do a lot of practice, you really will not need to worry at all because of the fact that you will have all the tips at your fingertips. On the other hand, if you don't do regular practice on the vehicle, what will happen is that you are likely to be very tense as your hands will not really be familiar with the steering wheel.
Arrive Early
The second thing that you need to do if at all you would like to get a driving license is to make sure that you do arrive early on the day of the test so that you are not put in a precarious position. It is better for you to arrive early in the testing area than for you to arrive late. If you arrive early, you have the chance of calming down, and you won't be stressed up at all.
These two things may sound to be extremely basic, but the truth of the truth of the matter is that a lot of people tend to ignore the basic advice that they are given, and they instead choose to follow their own ways. The result of this is that they fail to get their licenses.
Getting your driver's license is not that hard. If you would like to pass your driving test without trying so hard, you should get yourself this amazing driving test guide.
Hopefully these things will help you.

Cheap Teen Insurance
Teenage insurance, as you probably already know, is very expensive. Here is an article by Smitty Jones that will help you with this issue.
Car Insurance for Teenage Drivers for Cheap in 2011
If you are a parent of a teenage driver you know how expensive insuring your young driver can be. The fact of the matter is teenage drivers lack driving experience, and they tend to take risks when it comes to driving. Combine those two factors and the result is not cheap insurance.
Not all hope is lost. There are ways you can reduce the cost of car insurance for teenage drivers. One of the most important ways to save money is to shop around. It is advisable to search online for free insurance quotes. Comparing rates online is much quicker than calling around and you can compare quotes side by side.
If you currently have a family car insurance policy then it may be cheapest to add your teenage driver to your existing policy. This is not always the case, but generally carriers will extend a discount to you for multiple policies. Once again, I advise that you shop around to confirm you are receiving the best deal.
One of the chief concerns of insurance companies is, not only the lack of driving experience of young drivers, but the lack of responsibility. There are several ways a teenager can exhibit responsibility, not the least of which is maintaining good grades in school. If a young person maintains a B average or better, it goes a long ways to illustrating that they are taking life seriously.
Then there is the teenager's lack of driving experience. A good way to receive a discount from an insurance company is to take (and pass) an accredited drivers safety class. Many times carriers will extend a significant discount based on the completion of a drivers safety course.
Of course we all know that insurance premiums are higher on more expensive cars, but it doesn't stop there. There are a myriad of factors that go into setting rates for different vehicles. Sports cars will cost A LOT to insure for a teenager. Safety features are another factor that insurers take into consideration. If a car has airbags, shoulder seat belts and anti-lock brakes, these all help to reduce your rates. You can also add safety features, such as a fire extinguisher. The rule of thumb is, the safer the vehicle, the lower the premiums.
Drive safely! That is the key to finding cheap car insurance for teenage drivers. If your young driver obeys the rules of the road and doesn't receive any tickets then the premiums should go down. If after a year of trouble free driving your insurance carrier doesn't extend a discount it is time to shop around!
I would like to end this article by emphasizing that shopping around really is the key to finding the cheapest insurance possible. There are many reputable online insurance sites that offer free insurance quote comparisons. Make sure you use accurate information and always provide your real contact information. By comparing multiple carriers you know you're finding the beast rate possible, and remember, if your insurance company doesn't offer a discount after a year of ticket and accident free driving, it's time to shop around.

Beach Driving
Going to the beach is always fun, especially when the summer vacation is over and the place isn't crowded with little children. However, on the way back, there are two little problems: sand and water.
Sand sticks everywhere, regardless of showers and clean clothes. As long as you've been on the beach, you'll get sand on your clothes. When you enter the car, the sand falls off you to stay in the car forever.
Water is also a problem. If you don't change you'll have to place towels on the car seats, or face salt-water stains (and scents) on the seats. Definitely not something you'd want.
Don't forget: going to the beach requires clean clothes and good towels. Otherwise, your car is doomed to smell like the ocean forever.

Become Better After Passing
Passing the driving test is not very hard, but becoming a better driver afterwards can be a tedious task. Here is an article I wrote about making it easier.
How To Become A Better Driver After Passing Your Driving Test
Now, you have already passed you driving test, and you are the proud owner of the much-coveted driver's license. What next? You know one or two things about driving, but the truth of the matter is that you need to do a lot more practice if at all you would like to become a better driver, so that you are not only able to drive your vehicle without nay hitches, but that you are also able to drive safely along the way. In this article, we are going to look at three things that you should do so that you can be a much better driver even after you have passed the driving test and you have the driving license.
Respect Other Road Users
The first thing that you must do if at all you would like to become a better driver is to make sure that you are extremely respectful to other road users. If you are respectful to them then you will definitely not have problems on the road. Whether they are pedestrians or they are other motorists, you will are less likely to cause accidents if only you respect the other users on the road.
Understand Your Vehicle Thoroughly
The second thing that you should do if at all you would like to become a better driver is to make sure that you have a very thorough understanding of how your vehicle works. If you have this thorough understanding, you will not be disappointed at all. You should be able to detect from the sound that your vehicle produces, what is wrong with the vehicle, and what can actually be done to make sure that the vehicle is in the best condition possible.
Take Your Car For Regular Checkups
The truth of the matter is that although as a driver you may not necessarily be the owner of the vehicle, you must push to ensure that the vehicle goes through regular checkups to ensure that it is in the best condition possible. You will not be able to drive your vehicle well unless the vehicle is in a proper mechanical position.
These three things are extremely important and should be considered without fail. If you do this, you will not be disappointed at all. On the other hand, if you fail to observe this very important thing, you are likely to be disappointed because you will turn out to be a pretty bad driver.
Getting your driver's license is not that hard. If you would like to pass your driving test without trying so hard, you should get yourself this amazing driving test guide.

An undercover police car followed him (he didn't notice that another car is driving as fast as he is), and on average, he drove at 86.51 mph (138 km/h) before the police decided to stop him.

Protect Your Teen With Insurance
The leading cause of teen death in the US is not disease or alcohol, it's car crashes. Because of that, their car insurance rates are very high. Here is an article by Joel A Paschall about this issue.
Protecting Your Teenage Driver With Auto Insurance
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention found that the leading cause of death for teenagers in the US is from motor vehicle crashes. And teenage drivers between the ages of 16-19 are four times more likely to be involved in an accident than older drivers.
But let's put aside all the frightening facts (which you're more than welcome to read using the reference link provided below) since you as a parent already know about the hazards of driving. Without scaring them too much, preparing your teenage child for what is obviously a tough-to-navigate road system full of haste and peril is the first priority. Make sure they're aware that they should take their driving responsibilities and privileges seriously. Start your teen out with low risk driving conditions such as limiting them to daytime use and no weekends. And support Graduated Drivers Licensing programs which have proven to decrease serious injury crashes.
We can prepare our teenage drivers for the responsibilities of driving until we're blue in the face. But, as much as there is to say about proper preparation and as much as we'd like to not think about it, accidents can still happen. So, if they follow the guidelines set before them by you as a responsible, loving parent, it's important to provide for them a bubble of protection around their car that cushions them if they run into trouble. A thick layer of insurance can supply the remaining piece of mind for all the unthinkable reasons out there. Give them the auto insurance protection plan they deserve.
It's not good advice to allow the state legislature to determine the amount of coverage you need. Their minimum auto insurance requirements are often nowhere near enough to make a bump in the road disappear. The right balance and quantities of liability, property damage, uninsured/underinsured motorist, collision, comprehensive, and theft coverage will provide enough padding for your teenager, their passengers, anyone else involved and yourself. Those are the most popular types. There are other types of car insurance coverages available so make sure to speak with your auto insurance agent about all of them. Your teen is worth it.
Teenagers tend to drastically underestimate the level of danger as well as fail to recognize oncoming hazards. Some of these hazards end up confronting our teens and force them to deal with an unpleasant situation. They keys are proper training coupled along side with ample insurance protection.

What Not To Do
Being a good driver is not easy, but being a bad one is really easy. Here is an article I wrote about how not to become a better driver.
How Not To Become A Better Driver
I know that you are here simply because of the fact that you want to become a good driver. However, the truth of the matter is that the steps to doing things are just too obvious, to the extent that you might not really take the whole process serious. However, now that the title is on how not to become, then you are likely to pay great attention. So, are you ready?
Be Rude to Other Road Users
The first step to not becoming a driver is by becoming a rude driver towards other road users. If you are a driver who goes around insulting other drivers and treating pedestrians as if they do not deserve to use the road, then you will do very well in becoming a pathetic driver. On the other hand, if you are the kind of person who is willing to treat the other road users with the respect that you would like to be treated with, the you will become very good drivers.
Be Ignorant Of The Law
If you want to really become a pathetic driver, then you should be ignorant of the law. Once you have received your driving license, throw away all the documents and the books that taught you about the highway code. Make fun about the traffic laws and think of the people who are keen on observing the traffic rules as "naïve." This way, you will become a very pathetic driver, ad people on the road will definitely to want to meet with you at all. On the other hand, if you respect the law and treat the traffic laws with honor, you will become a great driver that people would admire to meet on the roads.
Don't Care About Your Vehicle
The third thing that you should do if at all you do not want to become a good driver but would want to become a pathetic one, then you are advised to take your vehicle for granted. This way, you will not be able to understand when the vehicles needs to take an unscheduled visit to the mechanic, and you may end up spoiling your journey. However, if you take care of your vehicle and understand "its language," you will never be caught off guard.
It is advisable that you desire to become a good driver and not a pathetic one. If you are planning to become a pathetic driver on our roads, it would even be better for the rest of us that you do not get your license.
Getting your driver's license is not that hard. If you would like to pass your driving test without trying so hard, you should get yourself this amazing driving test guide.
Hopefully you won't do any of the things listed above.
