Speed Cameras - A Cruel Tax

On Sunday, January 1st, a new set of speed cameras started working around here. These cameras work with some sensors on the road, so it's very hard to detect them at night and their fines are almost non-arguable.

In my opinion, speed cameras, especially on highways and freeways, are just another tax. Most people drive at a reasonable speed, and if that speed is higher than the speed limit, so that's the reasonable speed. The speed limit, in my opinion, is not a real life saver.

People die on the road from distractions. Higher speeds increase the severity of the accident, but we just can't drive at 30 mph. That is against the purpose of the road.

What can we do? Try to protest. Maybe the government around here will get rid of this New Year's present and let us drive at a reasonable speed with a reasonable price.
