Booking Your UK Test

November starts today, and there is no better way to start a month than with some fantastic guest tips. Today it's Richard Curran teaching us how to book a driving test at the UK.

How to Book Your Practical Driving Test

There are three ways to book the practical driving test. You can book your test online at the DSA website, by telephone and by post. It is possible to book the test on behalf of other people and sometimes your driving instructor/school can offer this service with an associated admin fee.

To book the practical element of your driving test you will need to have a valid UK driving license number and a theory test pass certificate number. To confirm your booking you will need to pay by credit or debit card.

You should also be aware of the following details:

o Personal details
o Your instructor's ADI number (not essential)
o Preferred date
o When else the person taking the test is available - especially booking a test at short notice
o If the person has any special circumstances / disability

To cancel the test you need to give the DSA at least 3 days notice, not including the days you made the booking or are due to sit the test.

When you call you will need to have the card holder present in order to make the booking.

Postal Booking:
To book the practical driving by post you will need to fill out a DL26 form. You can get a form at a theory or practical test centre, from your instructor or by downloading the forms from the DSA by going to this link:

Send the form to DSA.
