Calculating Insurance Rates

When you apply for a car insurance, the company weighs in some factors to decide what your premium should be. Here is an article by Bogdan Moisa that shows what goes into these calculations.

How Is Your Auto Insurance Rate Calculated?

Correctly predicting risks is essential for any insurance agency. If an insured suffers damages, in our case, because of a car accident, the company will have to cover the repair costs and the passengers' medical bills. An agency will try to reduce the cases where it has to pay up a benefit, or at least cover future possible expenses by increasing the premiums.

When determining you auto insurance policy's rates, a company will take into account a wide range of issues.

1. What are you driving? Since auto insurance concerns automobiles, the type and quality of your car matter a lot in determining the cost of your policy. A fast-sport car will cost a lot more to insure than a slow, but sturdy family car. Old vehicles will also get cheaper premiums, as long as they are in prefect working condition. New cars cost more to insure because they are expensive to repair or replace. So, if you are looking forward to buying a car, think of your auto insurance rates too when you make your pick!

2. How are you driving? Driving experience accounts for a high percentage of your auto insurance rates. Someone who has driven for a long time will get cheaper rates because it is unlikely for him or her to make a mistake and damage the car. On the other hand, a history of reckless driving and DUI will raise the costs.

3. Your finances. An insurance company will look into your finances so that they can make sure you will be able to pay the premiums. Having a good credit rating puts the agency at ease because they know you'll have the means to pay for your insurance.

4. Your lifestyle. Someone who drives safely will always get the better end of the deal. Your lifestyle can tell a company a lot about the way you drive. For example, agencies will consider any under 25 single male a liability. On the other hand, a married person will drive safely because they do not want to risk endangering their family, so they will get cheaper rates. Your education level and grades can also help reduce the cost of your auto insurance. Another reward for being a good student is getting cheaper auto insurance!

As you can see, there are many things that contribute to your insurance rates. It is important to know what issues count as you can use the information in your advantage and lower your policy's costs!

If you have just bought a new car or received your driving license, have a look at some auto insurance Texas quotes! Auto insurance is mandatory, so why not get the best rates? Visit http://texaslifeinsurancequote.net/ for the best offers!

Thank you Bogdan! That was a helpful article.

Help a New Driver Learn

If you have a child learning how to drive, it's always good advice to know how to teach them. Here is an article that should help you with that.

If your teen is old enough to drive now, you are probably feeling very nervous. On one hand, you want them to learn. On the other hand, you know that learning to drive means that they have to be very responsible.

It's your role as parent to offer them support and assistance. Even if you're not the one teaching them, you still need to make sure they are learning properly. They need to get plenty of practice if they want to pass their test and become responsible drivers.

Here are some tips that you can do, as a parent, to help your child learn how to drive.

- Make sure they are practicing with someone who is patient with them. Teaching a teen how to drive is something that takes a great deal of patience. This individual should also know how to stay calm when the situation arises. The last thing you want is for your child to drive with someone who gives in to panic easily.

- Help them to go over the written material. There are practice quizzes on the internet that they can take to help them prepare, not only for the written test but for the road exam as well. The written material will help them learn the rules of the road and the meanings of signs so that they'll know what to expect when they're driving.

- Arrange for them to practice some in an empty parking lot. This is a great place to start. It will give them the chance to practice simple skills such as braking and turning. They can practice holding the wheel correctly as well.

Here is a checklist of things you will want your child to do during driving practice.

- Navigating around other vehicles, pedestrians, bikers, animals, etc.,
- Keeping a safe distance behind the vehicle in front of them
- Slowing down ad coming to a complete stop at a STOP sign or red light
- Recognizing street signs
- Keeping an aggressive visual search for potential hazards
- Using turning signals properly
- Merging into traffic (if necessary)
- Practicing different types of parking

Speaking of parking, the best way to begin is to go to an empty parking lot and setting up boxes. Have the student driver practice maneuvering the vehicle between the boxes. Take everything one step at a time. If they get discourages because they can't parallel park at first, tell them to keep trying and trying.

As long as you support your child and help him or her prepare for the exam, he or she should pass. These tips should be enough to get you started.

There is a lot more information out there for student drivers and their parents both. An online driving course is worth checking into, as it presents everything in an easy to understand, organized manner. It will help your child prepare for - and pass - his or her driver's exam.

Getting your driver's license is not that hard. If you would like to pass your driving test without trying so hard, you should get yourself this amazing driving test guide.

I hope this article helped you,

Are Driving Rules Unfair for Seniors?

Senior driving is a hot subject of debate almost everywhere. On one hand, they have plenty of experience after all their driving. On the other hand, their body is not always able to handle the road and they sometimes pose a threat to other road users.

So, what's the solution? Here is an article in the Victoria News describing the process some seniors have to go through for a license.

Auto Insurance in Mexico

Driving in Mexico, like almost everywhere else, requires insurance. Here is an article by Aurora Maxine Swann about this topic.

Mexican Auto Insurance Policies

Planning to take a trip and drive to Mexico? Or maybe to a more specific location, say, planning to drive to Baja? Before you pack your bags, here are some important facts you need to understand.

If you're planning to drive down to Mexico without Mexico auto insurance and by some unfortunate twist of fate, you get involved in a vehicular accident and you don't have the necessary means to compensate for any damages caused or the resources necessary to obtain legal counsel, you could very easily end up in prison. Don't take that risk!

Before taking a drive to Mexico or to Baja, as a responsible driver you should arrange and apply for a Mexican auto insurance policy. Insuring your automobile or vehicle for taking a trip to Mexico is very important. Vehicle insurance is a must if you are driving an American or Canadian vehicle, whether it's a car, van, truck or RV, across the Mexican border. The law in Mexico requires drivers to have a minimum of $50,000 worth of proof of financial liability for any sort of bodily injury or property damage they instigate to others involved in the accident. Purchasing an insurance policy endorsed by a Mexican company is the only sensible means to avoid a run-in with the law, as Mexican authorities do not acknowledge foreign insurance policies for privately owned vehicles or automobiles in Mexico. Only licensed Mexican insurance companies are able to provide the necessary auto insurance coverage that is acknowledged and accepted by the legal system in Mexico. Without proper insurance, a minor vehicular accident could very well turn into a nightmare, necessitating jail time and enormous monetary penalties.

As Mexican law requires that the liability insurance must be obtained from a licensed Mexican company, then it also means that your auto insurance policy must be issued by a Mexican insurance company, or arranged via a broker in the US that's affiliated with a Mexican insurance company. Another way is to arrange your vehicle insurance coverage online before you decide to travel as you can get insured at a much better price, arrange immediate coverage online and won't have to worry about filing all the necessary paperwork.

All insurance policies are purchased from brokers. It's essential that you know which insurance company is endorsing the policy you are purchasing from the broker, as the insurance company who is endorsing your policy is more important than the broker selling you the policy. In selecting a broker, pick one that is properly licensed and has the necessary resources to appropriately attend to your claim and needs when you're in Mexico.

There are well over 50 insurance companies in Mexico. Make sure you ask your insurance broker about the size and financial stability of the Mexican auto insurance company they work in conjunction with. Purchasing insurance from a more reliable and financially stable insurance company may be more expensive, but the supplementary premium presents a lower risk to you in the event of claim. Guard yourself and your financial investment by ensuring that the insurance company who endorses your insurance policies has a reliable, stable and strong history.

One of the best ways to buy Mexico Tourist Auto Insurance coverage for your vehicle before driving to Mexico, is through Amigo Mexico Insurance. Please Click Here for more information Amigo Mexico Insurance

Defensive Driving Techniques for You

When you learn to drive, it's better if you learn how to drive defensively. Here is an article I wrote about this topic.

If you learn defensive driving, you shouldn't have any trouble whatsoever getting your driver's license. You will be able to prove to the DMV examiner that you know how to drive responsibly.

Defensive driving can save money, time, and even lives. In some states the concept is taken so seriously that some individuals are given discounts on their insurance if they sign up for an approved defense driving course.

Whether you want to sign up for one of these courses or not, you should still learn how to drive defensively.

Here are a few things you can do to increase safety as you are driving.

1. Minimize all distractions. YOU are the one who is ultimately responsible for your well-being. Stay off the cell phone. Don't try to eat and drive at the same time. Don't let other passengers distract you. Your driving and focusing on the road should be your top priority.

2. Don't let other drivers bother you. Avoid feeling road rage. Don't give in to others' road rage. If another driver is trying to cause trouble, just ignore them. Don't even look at them or acknowledge them. They will eventually leave you alone.

3. Accidents can - and do - occur during lane changes. Don't change lanes unless you absolutely have to. Also, pay attention to other vehicles that come into your lane. Adjust your speed so that they can merge smoothly.

4. One of the smartest things you can do as a defensive driver is to pay close attention to not only your own driving - but other people's driving as well. Don't assume that just because you are paying attention, that everyone else is as well. You never know when some absent minded driver might make a dangerous mistake. Predict other drivers' movements as best you can.

5. Practice high eyes driving. This technique requires that you focus on the road ahead of you rather than simply the car in front of you. Don't let the vehicle in front of you distract you to the point where you don't realize what is happening in front of that vehicle.

6. Know the proper time to swerve, and how to do it correctly. This is difficult to learn. It can take hours of practice. The idea behind swerving is to know how to maneuver your car in an emergency situation where there isn't enough time to avoid an accident. You can still maneuver your car a certain way to take the least amount of damage possible.

Keep these defensive driving techniques in mind as you learn how to drive. Hopefully you won't end up in any dangerous situations when you are taking your exam. Even after you get your license, you should still continue being a defensive driver. Never get out of the habit of driving safely.

There is a lot more you need to learn about driving techniques. If your road exam and/or written test is coming up soon, you can use an online driving guide to help you prepare. There are checklists, practice quizzes, interactive guides, and more.

Did you know that you can learn everything there is to know about driving online? If you have been studying and practicing, you can use some online tools to make the learning process go easier. With an online driving course, you can be one step closer to get your license!

Getting your driver's license is not that hard. If you would like to pass your driving test without trying so hard, you should get yourself this amazing driving test guide.

Car Insurance Considerations

Insuring your car is an important step towards a safer drive. Here is an article by Jack M Clifford about several considerations you should have when shopping for insurance.

Considerations When Shopping for Auto Insurance Provider

It's time to get auto insurance, maybe you got a new car or are unhappy with your current provider. The first thing you will want to do is shop around at different insurance companies and compare your costs. Talk to family and friends about their current auto insurance provider and their experiences in the past. Do some research on the different policies offered by large companies and local companies in your area and make sure to look into the following things offered by each.

Insure the right car
Before you insure your car, look for an auto insurance website that will allow you to compare the differences in prices for the make and model of your vehicle. You may find that comparable models have very different price ranges for auto insurance depending on the theft rate and repair rate. Another thing the companies will factor into your payment is the zip code you are parking the car in (most likely your home address) for theft rate as well. Most large auto insurance company sites will usually list cars they consider to be safer, hinting to you the vehicles with the best insurance rate. If you have an older car you are looking to insure, you may want to consider dropping collision and comprehensive coverage all together. These coverage costs may account for almost half of your payment and should an accident occur, only cover the cars replacement value.

Discounts

Once you find a company and a price you are comfortable with, there are different discounts you can ask about that may help you save on your policy. Each auto insurance provider offers different discounts; these can range from vehicle features like antitheft devices, to being proactive about your driving with defensive driving courses. If you haven't had a ticket (moving or accident) for several years your insurance will decrease dramatically. And even student drivers with good grades can get a discount these days. Bundling your car insurance with other insurance options offered by the company, such as homeowners insurance or additional vehicles, could also get you a discount.

Things you can do
While you may not be able to erase a violation from your driving history, there are things you can do to improve your auto insurance policy price. Look into the different discounts as mentioned above to see if you could potentially qualify for one. You may be able to enroll in a defensive driving course that once completed would lower your policy. One of the best things you can do is maintain a good credit report, since many auto insurance companies factor credit into pricing out a policy. To protect your credit score always pay your bills on time, keep your credit balances as low as possible and check your report regularly to catch any errors.

Once you have settled on a policy, stay current and up to date with your policy and the different discounts your provider offers. Like most insurance rates, auto insurance rates can change often and you will want to review your coverage annually to make sure you are getting the best price.

A Price Drop

After a month of almost record-breaking gas prices, April finally brought us a relief. Gas prices here dropped almost 38 cents a gallon, but they're still super-high.

The problem is, as usual, taxes. The price of gasoline itself is about half the price we pay at the pump, but the gasoline tax and VAT add up to over 100% of the gasoline price - which means an unbearable price at the pump.

Hopefully the new government will do something about this issue. After all, they're the ones setting the price.

Safe Driving Habits You Should Have

When you learn to drive, it's important that you develop good habits to stay a good driver. Here is an article I wrote about this.

Good driving habits are something we all have to learn and abide by. If you're just starting out, then the best thing you can do for yourself is learn good driving habits. Not only will you need to know them in order to get your license, you will also need to know them if you want to be a safe driver.

In order to establish these habits, you must practice driving with a safe and responsible adult. Not just any adult will do - you need one who knows the rules of the road. The ideal person will be someone who is patient. He or she will guide you through each and every step when you go out for practice drives.

Here are some of the safety habits they will help you learn.

• Proper starting and stopping. A good driver knows how to start and stop gradually. The process should be smooth. When you stop, never wait until the last second to slam on the brakes. Not only will doing so cause you to fail your test, it may also lead to an accident.

• Another good habit to have (and perhaps one of the most important) is to check and make sure everyone in the vehicle has their seatbelts on before starting. If you want to be a driver, then it's YOUR responsibility to make sure everyone - including yourself - is buckled in.

• Good drivers never let themselves be distracted. This means you should turn your cell phone off. If you do have to take a call or send someone a text message, pull of the road to do it. Keep the radio on low. When taking the driving test, try not to let the examiner distract you too much. While you need to listen to them and do whatever they tell you to do, you don't want to let yourself worry about whether or not you impress them. Your primary focus should always be on your driving.

• It's extremely important to check not only your mirrors, but your blind spot as well. Get in the habit of doing this. Do it even when you know nobody else is on the road. You must know who and what is behind you, in front of you, and to your sides at all times.

• Practice turning your signal lights on. Once again, this is something you should be doing even when there is no one else on the road. While you're at it, always come to a complete spot when reaching a STOP sign. Wait a few seconds before slowly starting again, even if there is no other vehicle around.

As long as you develop safe driving habits, such as these, and practice with a responsible adult, you should be able to get your driver's license!

Did you know that you can learn everything there is to know about driving online? If you have been studying and practicing, you can use some online tools to make the learning process go easier. With an online driving course, you can be one step closer to get your license!

I hope this article helped you,

Applying for Car Insurance

Applying for car insurance can be a daunting task. However, it doesn't mean it's not important. Here is an article by Jennifer Greenfield about this very important issue.

Auto Insurance Application Advice

Most people don't spend much time worrying about an auto insurance application; after all, it's just another in a long list of forms that we are required to complete. However, there are some important "dos and don'ts" when filling out the application. Auto insurance is essential and mandated by law, which gives the application some major significance. Here are five vital tips that consumers should know before they sign their name to any auto insurance application.

1 - The first, and most important tip - be honest! Being honest will allow your agent to find any available discounts and will prevent any potential issues if a claim is made. Lying on an insurance application can be a misdemeanor and you can be sure that insurance carriers will press charges if a lie is discovered. Though jail time is rare, fines, probation, and difficulties obtaining insurance in the future will usually be the result of the crime.

2 - Report all drivers for each vehicle. Having teenage drivers in the house substantially raises the premium. Some families may neglect to report a teenage driver if they only drive occasionally, but this creates a potential problem if something happens while the teenager is driving, even if it is the other driver's fault. It only takes one time for something to go wrong.

3 - Report the correct address. Some drivers attempt to write in a different address if they think it will reduce their rates. However, using your brother's address or your ex-girlfriend's timeshare as your address on an auto insurance application is a mistake that could become a crime.

4 - Report the correct mileages for each vehicle. If you are in an auto accident and the auto repair shop or the insurance adjuster notices a mileage figure that is significantly different than it should be, you may be in trouble. You can claim that you just drove across the country five times in the past month, but you better have proof if you make that claim. If caught in a lie, criminal prosecution may be in your future.

5 - Once you have made sure to be completely honest on everything - address, mileages, drivers, grades (for student discounts), and anything else asked in the application, it is important to keep your insurance carrier updated on any changes. If you move, buy a new car, have a new driver in the household, or change the daily miles you drive, let the insurance company know. Remember, honesty is the best policy for your policy!

The Importance of Travel Insurance

Insurance is not only about cars. Traveling without insurance can be costly as well. Here is an article I wrote about this issue.

Approximately 25% of travelers travel without any insurance.  If you belong to that percentage group, then you're placing yourself in a lot of danger. Furthermore, if you travel with your family, then you're putting THEM in danger!  You may not think you travel enough to invest in insurance, but you couldn't be more wrong.  You need to compare travel insurance policies right now, especially if you're working on plans for an upcoming trip.

Sure, odds are, your trip will go smoothly, but you still should never take any chances.  You need to ask yourself "What IF".  What IF your plane really does crash?  What IF you become ill?  What IF there's a natural disaster and you need to be evacuated?  What IF somebody robs you and takes off with all your money and you're left stranded?  All of problems caused by these scenarios can be lessened a great deal if you take the time to compare travel insurance companies.

No two travel insurance plans are alike, therefore you need to research, study, and compare them as carefully as you can.  As you compare travel insurance plans, you need to pay close attention as to what each can give you.  Different policies offer different coverage types.  Obviously, you need to choose coverage types that will go hand in hand with all your vacation plans.

As you request quotes and compare travel insurance policies, make sure you are upfront with them about the following: any pre-existing medical conditions you (or anyone else on your policy) may have, any criminal convictions, such as fraud, within the last five years, and whether or not you plan on doing any cruising. Some policies will cover cruises and others will not. The more honest you are as you read quotes and compare travel insurance policies, the better the policy you will end up with.

Make sure you know and understand everything that you're reading as you compare travel insurance policies. The purpose of getting travel insurance is to protect you when you're on vacation, so you need to choose one that offers the best coverage for your own personal needs.

I hope this article helped you,

Tips for Cheaper Insurance

Today is April Fool's Day, but Chris Meagher is not going to fool you with these great tips for cheaper auto insurance.

Tips to Get Cheaper Car Insurance

Auto Insurance Costs

This article discusses a handful of guidelines for tips to get cheaper car insurance, prevent sizeable cost increases and avoid being designated as a high-risk likelihood.

Insurance agencies take into regard quite a few components before they supply you with auto insurance. Below are a few of the basic concerns built into compiling your auto insurance costs.

A Healthy Driver's History

Undertake enhanced driver's lessons to further improve your risk-performance.

Your Financial Record

Progressively more auto insurance vendors have established examining end-user financial data, to decide whether to issue or continue insurance coverage, or to make a decision on just what to charge.

The Demographics

If you are residing in a location that has high numbers of thefts for your make and model of motor vehicle, then you'll pay elevated rates. This is because your vehicle has got a much higher probability of getting stolen, or defaced.

Including Further Drivers to the Policy

Including an approved driver to your insurance policy can either, build up or lower your rates, based on the designated road users age, gender and driver's track record.

Including a younger car owner is sure to increase your rates, especially if they come with an inadequate or inferior dmv driver history record.

Also, including a car owner over thirty years old, having an extended and spotless drivers history can cut charges, even more so if the approved motorist is a female!

Age and Gender

Women are statistic less likely to have an accident and, if this were the case, it is not as likely to be as substantial. As a consequence of these stats, females gain from reduced insurance costs.

It is equally worth noting, that if you make up one half of a married couple, you'll want to give some thought to using the female as the principal motorist, with the guy as the additional driver.

Car Insurance Discount for Being Married

A married person will end up paying less as compared to a someone unwed with an identical drivers review. Should you be a teen car owner, get a more mature motorist, or a female driver, added to your policy as a named driver.

Your Career

There are actually careers that insurance organizations have a look at as low risk. You are privileged if you are categorized as the class of those with reduced risk professions, as there's a good chance to get discounts from the majority of insurers.

Due to the fact not all vendors will likely be the equal, it's wise to shop around to start with, to ascertain if you are likely to be given a reduced cost on your insurance as a consequence of your job.

Makes of Motor Vehicles

The kind of auto you use, or would like, has a bearing on the cost of insurance for any bodily damage it gets caught up in. Insurance vendors analyze a car with respect to its risk-free expectation and financial damage burden.
