Safe Habits Will Help You Pass

Developing strong and safe driving habits are very important for your ability to pass the driving test. Here is an article I wrote about this important topic.

In order to drive in this country, you must pass a written test and road test. You must demonstrate to a professional that you understand the rules of the road and that you can drive safely. Many people have trouble with the road test because they are unprepared. This test requires more than simply driving around for a few minutes. It requires that you drive, park, check your mirrors, turn properly, brake properly, and so forth.

Can you do this? Do you have a good teacher? Having a good teacher is essential since you can't just start driving by yourself. You need somebody who will tell you what to do and how to do it. This person should be able to not only tell you, but SHOW you how to drive. Whenever you make a mistake, they should point it out to you.

You should also learn safe habits. Getting into the habit of checking your mirrors and blind spot is important.

Here are a few tips to help you.

· One of the most important things you need to do is make sure everybody has their seatbelt on before you begin driving. You are responsible for everyone's safety. Refuse to drive if anyone doesn't want to wear their seatbelt.

· Make sure there are STOP signs on the roads you practice on so that you can get in the habit of slowing down and stopping. Some people think it's okay to roll by a STOP sign. It is not - and doing so will cause you to fail. You need to practice slowing down and coming to a complete stop.

· Speaking of braking, you need to learn how to do it properly if you want to be a good driver and pass the test. Practice pressing down on the pedal. Do it gently and bring the car to a stop. It should be done gradually. Never, ever brake hard unless it's an absolute emergency.

· Try to be as observant as possible and keep your eyes on other drivers. Keep your eyes moving around you. They shouldn't be facing forward the entire time. Know what's going on ahead of you, behind you, and to your left and right. It will take some practice to become observant, but you will get better at it in time.

These are just a few ideas to help you with your practice. Your teacher should already be helping you develop good driving habits. You will pass the test if you keep practicing every single day.
You can find plenty of resources online to help you in your quest to become a better driver. There are some great student driver guides on the internet, filled with the information and tools you need to help you pass your test. Check them out now!
