Some Helpful Tips

As usual, Friday is the helpful tips day. Here are today's tips for passing your driving test.

8 Helpful Tips on Passing Your Driving Test on the First Try

Would you like to pass your driving road exam on the very first try? Half the people who take the test for the very first time fail! There reasons for failure are obvious: lack of preparation, nervousness, lack of confidence, etc. In some cases, the student driver is OVERLY confident. They are so sure of themselves that they don't realize they are making mistakes. Confidence is important, but you shouldn't be so confident that you are arrogant.

Don't let nervousness get the best of you, either. Here are some tips that will help you prepare for the test so that you will pass on your first try:

1. Practice driving in the test area. Get comfortable with the test routes ahead of time and you will be able to drive them on the day of the test. Drive around; take note of all of the signs. Check out the posted speed limits. Make the appropriate turns.

2. Be sure to get a good night's rest. Drink some chamomile tea before going to bed. It will help you sleep. The more refreshed you are, the better you will perform during the test.

3. Get the basics down pat. Don't put so much focus on the hard stuff, like parallel parking, that you neglect the basics. Even if you already know the basics, give yourself a refresher every now and then. Read through the guides and go out and practice in an area where there aren't many cars.

4. Make sure you're comfortable with braking. Making mistakes with the brakes is pretty common among first-time test takers. You will have to use your own judgment based on the circumstances and speed. Generally, you will want to start braking in plenty of time before coming to a complete stop.

5. Always keep your hands positioned correctly on the wheel. Steer smoothly. Never jerk the wheel, under any circumstance. The turns should be smooth and gradual.

6. There are a number of things that can go wrong on the road at any given moment. You must learn how to be observant. You need to not only focus on your own driving, but keep an eye out for other drivers. Be prepared to react to any dangerous situation.

7. Keep a safe distance between yourself and the vehicle in front of you. There should be at least three car lengths between your vehicle and the one ahead. This is the standard distance to keep on any type of road.

8. Practice parallel parking. This can be a real challenge, but you can learn how to do it. Practice it on a curb near your house. You could also set up some trash cans and practice parking in between them. While you're at it, practice hill parking.

Keep these pointers in mind and you should be able to pass your test on the first try!

Do you want to know what the examiner will be testing you on? You can find all kinds of road test secrets online! A basic DMV guide isn't enough these days. You'll need to check out online secrets if you want to pass your driver's road test.

Getting your driver's license is not that hard. If you would like to pass your driving test without trying so hard, you should get yourself this amazing driving test guide.

I hope these tips will help you,

Test Drive Away

Not all potential car buyers are innocent. For example, Nicholas M. Stidwell decided that the car he took for a test drive belongs to him. After he returned from his test drive he took the dealership's spare key and took the car home.

Only the day after the dealership noticed that one of their cars is missing after being tipped. Then they called the police which found the car outside Stidwell's house.

The young thief now lives in the county jail. Hopefully they don't hold too many car dealerships close by.

Budgeting for Car Insurance

Car insurance takes a portion of your monthly budget, so it's worthwhile to make a plan and budget well for it. Here is an article by Vincent Rogers about this topic.

How Much Should I Budget for Car Insurance in 2012

Car insurance is one of those essential annual costs that always needs to be accounted for and included within your budget forecast for the year. However, the big problem facing many motorists is working out exactly how much they are going to have to spend in 12 month's time. Well, here's a quick guide how you can budget in 2012.

As you may have noticed, some UK car insurance policies increased in 2011, in part due to the increase in VAT (20% from 17.5%)as well as a rise in the tax applied to most forms of cover (6% from 5%). There are currently no indications that any such rises in Government levies are likely; however the knock on effect could still be felt by motorists in 2012.

So what can you expect to pay? Well, a good starting point is to work towards your current policy cost. Even if you have not made a claim within the last year or have purchased a new car, it's the amount you pay could still increase. If your renewal quote is higher, it may be worth having a look around to see if you can find a better deal elsewhere.

It does become a lot more complicated if you have had a driving conviction, a collision or have upgraded your vehicle though. Accurately estimating what impact this may have on your policy is extremely difficult and therefore will only become apparent as and when you obtain a quote for your new cover.

Remember that due to the tax rises in 2011, the usual increase that comes with any of the issues mentioned above will be amplified even further. As such you may find that your policy cost is multiplied to a rate that was far beyond what you have been paying. This is an unfortunate by-product of the amplified risk rating that you may incur as a result of any such discrepancy or alteration to terms.

You should also bear in mind that a change of address or usage for your vehicle may also see the cost of coverage changing. So don't be too surprised if you find yourself getting quoted more if you have made a fair few adjustments. Again, you should really budget for any such issue and expect your policy to increase as a consequence. Whilst it might be preferable to stay at the same rate, unfortunately this isn't always possible.

Fortunately, whilst you can't always solidly predict your future policy costs, you can at least budget for any eventuality. A little saving can go a long way remember, so having the funds to deal with any eventuality can certainly help you to stay on top of costs - regardless of what may happen.

In many regards, what we pay for car insurance is out of our hands and therefore it's not something that you can do a great deal about. However, as previously mentioned, if you're not happy with the quote that you're given from an insurer, you do at least have the opportunity to look elsewhere when your policy is up for renewal. You may not be able to better the quote, but at least you can see what else is available.

If cost is a real issue, you can also look to reduce your level of cover. Remember that this will increase your own personal risk, particularly if you need to make a major claim, but it's certainly a better option than going without car insurance at all. So whatever 2012 brings, makes sure you're covered.

New Traffic Signs

The road is never boring around here. Very soon, the traffic signs board is going to change, and we, the drivers here, are going to learn hundreds of new road and traffic signs.

One of these signs is the tram traffic light. Right now there is only one tram around here (and it's slower than cars), but these traffic lights are very widely spread. Maybe the government is preparing us for the very very far future when trams will roam the streets.

Another one is the you-have-right-of-way sign. This sign was removed from here decades ago because it caused too many accidents, and now it returns. The Minister of Transport here seems to like accidents.

Hopefully these new signs won't be accompanied by a new spike in accidents.

Practice Well and Pass

Once again it's Friday, which means it's once again the time for some driving test tips. Here they are.

Learn How to Practice Driving So That You Can Pass Your Road Test

After you get your learner's permit, you will have a limited time to get your license. You will have to fit in as much practice as you can before you take your road test. How can you learn everything there is to know about driving when you only have a short amount of time to practice?

Where should you put your focus when you practice? Here are some tips for getting the most out of your practice.

• Practice stopping at a variety of places. Learn how to stop correctly at an intersection. You need to stop before the crosswalk. Whenever you come at a STOP sign, slow down and come to a complete stop. Do not let the vehicle roll. When approaching a yellow light, slow down and stop - even if you reach it before it turns red. Don't go through.

• Practice driving on a variety of terrains. Start off driving at an empty parking lot or on an old road with very few cars. Once you get the hang of it, move on to a busier road, before finally practicing on an intersection. Go out and drive on a rainy day as well.

• Learn how to change lanes properly. Remember to check the mirrors. Look behind you to check your blind spot. Signal properly and try to maintain the speed. Change lanes as smoothly as possible.

• You'll definitely want to practice parking up-hill. When there is a curb, the wheels should be turned to the left. When there is no curb, the wheels must be turned to the right. When facing downhill, the wheels should always be turned to the right. Don't forget to set the parking brake when parking on a hill.

• Pay close attention to your surroundings. Don't put 100% of your focus on you. Put some focus on the other drivers. Is the driver in front of you slowing down for some reason? Does the person on your right seem confused? Always anticipate their moves before they make them.

• Practice driving in reverse and pulling out of parking places. Go to an quiet road or parking lot and put the car in reverse. You can practice pulling out of parking places by setting up trash cans or cones. Practice pulling in between them and pulling out.

• Try overtaking another vehicle at least once. Just be careful when you do it. Only do so if it is safe for you and other drivers.

Be careful of hills, bends, pedestrian crossings, bridges, etc. If another car is in front of you trying to overtake, don't drive too closely behind it. When you are well passed the vehicle you are going to overtake, check for blind spots. Give your signal, accelerate, and move when it's safe to do so.

Now you know how to practice driving! Follow these tips and you should be able to prepare for your test.

In order to pass your driver's test, you need to prepare yourself both physically and mentally.
There are many of driving tips and secrets online. You will find helpful information that will help you prepare for the test day. Online driving courses are well put together and easy to understand.

Facts to Know When Buying Insurance

Buying car insurance is not an easy decision, and lots of research must be conducted before making a choice. Here is an article by that will make this choice a little easier.

Facts You Need to Know When Buying Car Insurance

When we go to buy any product or service, the first thing we do is research about the companies providing it. Same is the case with auto insurance providers; when you buy a vehicle you also start looking out for an insurance policy providing maximum coverage. Often in hunt for such an ideal insurance policy people end up making the wrong choice. To avoid such cases it is best to know some basic facts beforehand so that they can help you out in choosing a reliable and beneficial insurance.

Every insurance policy is different: The policy one company is offering you will vary from the policies of other insurance companies in India. There will be a difference in the coverage offered, services, discounts and other things too. Presently there are numerous insurance companies in the market and to stand out each one tries to make itself stand out of the crowd which also gets customers wide array of options to choose amongst. Thus you cannot expect every company to give you the same benefits and then think about settling for the one that will cost you the least amount of money.

Your premium amount depends on your coverage: If you thought looking out for the cheapest car insurance will give your vehicle complete protection from external damage then you need to rethink. The amount of premiums you will have to pay at regular intervals will depend upon the coverage amount of your policy. If you have bought a policy that protects your automobile only against physical damage and doesn't cover theft or fire then your premiums will be comparatively lower. But when it comes to protecting our cars against damages we would surely not want to protect them against every possible risk they might face and then settle for an insurance policy.

Looking for discounts will help: When browsing for insurance policies online, be sure to check for the kind of discounts general car insurance providers are offering. You might come across offers like no claims bonus, free car servicing or even discounts on your premium for maintaining your car in good condition. Such small looking add-on can actually save certain amount of your money and even earn you free rewards that are beneficial to your car. Discounts in your insurance thus do not mean you will have to pay lesser premiums instead they come as extras.

Comparing isn't confusing: Comparing insurance online with many providers on the list will in no way confuse the policy buyers. Instead it will make them aware of all the available options and the types of plans available to cover their vehicle. They can even get to know the amount of premium they would have to pay, go through the policy details and even apply for car insurance online.

When buying a Car Insurance Policy be sure to choose a plan that offers the coverage your vehicle may require. To know more about Auto Insurance visit here

Long Time of No Driving

There are some times that I just don't need to drive. It can be a long period of being away from home, being overseas, or just not having to leave the house. This week was one of these times.

After such time I always find it "weird" to enter a car in the driver's seat. At first, I feel like I don't belong there. It takes me several minutes to readjust to the seat position (that doesn't change) and to the car. Then it's like the old saying - "just like riding a bike".

Yes, driving a car can be like riding a bike. Only faster. Much faster.

Some More Tips for the Test

If there is one thing about the driving test, it's that you can never run out of tips for it. Here are some more to use for this Friday.

Need Help Preparing for Your Driving Test? Want to Know How to Get Through the Test? Follow These Tips

The road exam can be a real challenge. Many people feel anxious before they take their test. You will be observed carefully. Every move you make will be noticed. Every mistake you make, no matter how small, will be noticed by the examiner.

As nerve-wrecking as this might seem, you shouldn't let it get to you. If you are prepared, you will feel confident. You won't feel as anxious during the test.

Here are a few tips for preparing for the road exam:

• Take the practice seriously. Pay close attention to everything that your instructor teaches you. When you receive constructive criticism, make the necessary improvements. If you don't understand something, ask.

• Pay attention to signals and signs. You should have learned what all of the signs and signals mean when you studied the written material. You are expected to know what they mean and follow them accordingly.

• Make sure the vehicle in which you practice is properly registered, insured, and inspected. Both exterior and interior should be in good condition. Your practice will be a waste of time (and maybe even dangerous) if there is something wrong with the vehicle.

• You can always watch how-to videos online if you need to learn how to do something. Sometimes it's easier to learn something if you can see other people doing it. Tutorial videos will show every single step. You can also find some helpful drawings.

• Practice driving all over your city or town. You can check out Google Maps to lean all of the roads and routes. Get to know all of the roads like the back of your hand. That way, come test day, you will be comfortable driving no matter where you go.

Tips for Getting Through the Test

• If you're feeling nervous on test day, breathe deeply. Slowly inhale and exhale. Focus on your breathing for a few minutes and you will feel more relaxed.

• Try to keep your nervousness at bay. Even if you're having trouble staying calm, try your best to hide it. If the examiner sees that you are feeling anxious, he or she might feel that you are not prepared enough to get through the test.

• Don't try to argue your way out of anything. Even if you disagree with something the examiner does or says, just keep quiet. Arguing will only make things worse. If you have trouble understanding any of the instructions, ask for clarification.

• While it's important to be confident, you shouldn't be too confident to the point you are showing off. Showing off will not impress the examiner, and it may even cause you to mess up.

Check out some online driver's guidebooks. You can learn more tips for preparing and practicing. You can also find a checklist of things that the examiner will be watching for. Knowing ahead of time what you will be tested on will help you prepare better.

Getting your driver's license is not that hard. If you would like to pass your driving test without trying so hard, you should get yourself this amazing driving test guide.

Sometimes You Don't Need a Test

Sometimes all you need to avoid taking a driving test is starting to drive before compulsory tests are introduced. For Susie Dixon it was the way to go.

Susie got her license on 1930, five years before the test requirement for a license. She has been driving 82 years since she was 18 years old. Anyone who can do the math discovers that she's 100 years old. Very impressive.

Actually, Susie will turn 100 in six days (one day after me). She never received any ticket or have any accident, definitely beating the insurance companies' statistics.

Happy birthday Susie, I wish you many more years of driving!

Getting California Auto Insurance

Auto insurance rates and laws vary by state, and California definitely has some of the highest rates possible. Here is an article by about the California issue.

What You Should Know About California Auto Insurance

The laws that govern car insurances vary from one state to another. If you live in California and it is your first time buying a car, you should be aware that the government of California will require you to avail of auto insurance. You should know the specific requirements to avoid any car-related problems in the future.

A known fact is that the residents of California pay for way more than the average insurance requirements in the United States. For one, it has minimum liability requirements, which people often call "15-30-5". This means that the minimum coverage for injuries is $15,000 for each person, $30,000 for all people in the car and $5,000 for property damage.

Because it is the "minimum", it means that a person has the option to increase the coverage according to what he deems more appropriate. This is to make sure that the financial protection for your car will not be less than what you may actually pay for. Increasing the amount of coverage will also protect you against lawsuits and mishaps.

There are several types of auto insurance that you can choose from. For instance, you may want to avail of a "comprehensive insurance". This is a policy that would pay for any damages incurred in your car. This type of insurance is advisable for those who have brand new cars because it has a wider coverage. Aside from accidents, a comprehensive insurance will also pay for other damages such as vandalism, fire or theft.

You may also opt to have uninsured motorist insurance. This type of policy pays for any damages incurred in case your car encounters an underinsured or uninsured motorist. This will protect the driver and passengers and will pay for all medical bills.

If you want to make sure that your car insurance will pay for damages in case of a collision no matter who is at fault, you may want to include "collision" on the list of coverage. This is a good option if you have a brand new or expensive car. Once the car is insured, you are more at peace with the fact that anytime your car encounters any accident, you are sure that you have financial protection. The California "Fair Claims Settlement Practices Regulations" specifies that any insurance company has a maximum of 15 days to acknowledge any claim filed. The insurance company also has the responsibility to help you out with your claim the best way possible. The 15 days is given for the insurance company to approve or deny the claim of the insured. Once the claim is approved or accepted, the company has a maximum of 30 days to pay for the insurance settlement.

If you are shopping for California auto insurance, be sure to ask all questions that you want to ask to make sure that you understand what you will be paying for. All coverages and liabilities should be clear to you. You should also get yourself an auto insurance quote from several companies so that you can choose which one gives the best deals.

Get all the information you need to know about California auto insurance at http://www.yesprop17.org/.

Storm and Cleanliness

After a very rain February, now comes along a very rainy March. No one expected 2012 to have so much rain, but we don't complain here. Every single drop is important.

The only problem is, of course, my car. For some reason, even after very heavy rain it just won't clean. The mud sticks too hard to its body and won't let go. Since it's raining (and I'm quite lazy sometimes), I don't even bother to clean it.

The situation is worse inside. The car is full of junk and it could really use some vacuuming. But, as I said, I can be quite lazy sometimes. Maybe I'll do it in the future.

Have a great weekend!

More Common Failure Mistakes

Failure in the driving test is not the end of the world, but it's still very frustrating. Here is an article I wrote with some tips about lowering the chance of failing.

8 Common Mistakes Student Drivers Need to Avoid In Order to Pass Their Driving Exam!

If you are trying to prepare for your driving test, it's important that you know which mistakes to avoid so that you pass with flying colors. Even if you practice every day, you still might make some mistakes during the test. When practicing, many student drivers put focus on what they should do rather than what they shouldn't be doing. Learning about common mistakes other student drivers make will make it easier for you to pass your test!
Here are some of those mistakes:

1. Forgetting the controls. It's common for beginner drivers to mistake controls. Familiarize yourself with every single control and know exactly where they're all located in the vehicle you will be tested in.

2. Forgetting to slow down at the appropriate times. Always make sure that you are going the speed limit unless you are preparing for a stop. Whenever you change lines, go at the same speed as the surrounding drivers.

3. Staring at your hands or the wheel. Don't worry about your hands. Make sure they are positioned properly on the wheel but keep your eyes on the road. Your eyes should be constantly scanning the road in front of you, to your left, and to your right. Don't forget to look in the rearview mirror to check behind you regularly as well.

4. Braking too hard is one of the biggest mistakes made by beginner drivers. Always be careful when braking. Take your foot from the accelerator as early as possible. Slowly press down on the brake. Coast lightly before you come to a stop.

5. Making unsafe lane changes. Don't forget to use the right signal! When changing lanes, check the mirrors and look over your shoulder to check for blind spots. Make sure it's safe and clear before switching lanes.

6. Being overly cautious. Although it's always important to be cautious, you shouldn't be TOO cautious to the point where you aren't feeling confident. It's important to be confident and drive the speed limit. You will lose points for being too slow. Also, take the right of way when it is yours!

7. Failing to yield. When you're at the stop light, and want to turn left, you need to yield to oncoming traffic, unless you have a green arrow. Even if there is a green arrow, you should still make sure that no other vehicles are approaching before you enter the intersection.

8. Not being prepared. Most driving test mistakes occur because the student just isn't prepared. Get all of the practice you can get with a responsible adult driver.. Read tips and guides online. Take practice quizzes.

There are plenty of helpful resources for student drivers online. You can read driving test guides and take practice quizzes! Online driving courses are well put together and easy to understand.

No Surprise - New Drivers are Risky

Sometimes to hear the obvious you need a multi-million dollar company. For example, Admiral. They examined about one million insurance quotes (I take my words back, they're probably a billion dollar company) and discovered that new drivers in their first year of driving are the most risky drivers.

Another result that should give them the Captain Obvious award is that young men are more likely to have a conviction in their first year. Big surprise. That's why they pay higher rates on insurance across the world.

If you're a new driver - drive more safely. Help lower the statistics. I'm really tired of hearing this.

Lower Insurance Rates for Teens

Since teenagers are usually more risky drivers, their insurance premiums are much higher. Here is an article by who tries to explain how to lower that quote.

Learn How Teenagers Can Get Affordable Automobile Insurance

Many parents shudder at the thought of their teenagers reaching the age where they will be able to become legal drivers. Even the most responsible teenager can be expensive to insure for automobile insurance. Insurance companies almost always charge a much higher auto insurance liability rate for teenage drivers than they do for older adults who have a safe and proven driving record. This is because the teenager has yet to prove himself or herself as a safe and responsible driver. For the first two or three years of having their driver's license, teens may be subject to extremely high insurance rates through their parents' auto insurance policy.

Every household differs in how parents require teenagers to be responsible. Some households have teenagers work part time or full time jobs to help pay their auto insurance premiums. Other parents find it necessary to have their teenagers not work and focus solely on sports and academics and other common extracurricular activities that can promote positive and well-rounded social and academic development in a student.

If the teen pays for the auto insurance or if the parent pays for the auto insurance, the rate still stays the same. If the parents pay for it, this is a bill that can add another expense to yet a potentially already strict budget. There are steps that teens can take to lower their insurance premiums to make insurance more affordable for them and for their parents. Teens who take driver's education courses in high school will be viewed more favorably by insurance companies compared to teens who have not taken the course. Taking a driver's education course demonstrates that the teen not only takes driving seriously, but that he or she has passed a course on safe and responsible driving by a certified driver's education teacher.

The driver's education course is one thing that a teenager can do to lower his or her insurance. When a student volunteers in the community, makes good grades, and has a record of being an upstanding citizen, he or she will stand a good chance of getting reduced rates on auto insurance. Many insurance companies will reward students who make an extra effort to be responsible and upstanding. Insurance companies also see teens that do these things as a lower risk driver than teenagers who do not get good grades and who have no participation in community events.

Getting a teenager a sports car or a high end powerful or luxury vehicle will also dramatically increase the automobile insurance the teen is able to get. Some insurance companies will refuse to insure teenage drivers on high end sports cars out right. Other insurance companies will charge a significant amount of money for a teen to be insured in even a newer automobile. Studies have found that reliable, medium grade quality sedans are the most affordable vehicles for teenage drivers to be insured for. These vehicles are typically safer and have less speed capabilities than other higher end models.

The Three Lanes

Finally, after years of suffering heavy traffic, the third lane in the freeway near my house was extended. Until not long ago, traffic always stopped near the interchange where the three lanes merged into two. Now traffic keeps flowing much, much further.

The three lanes are not extended until the next interchange, but the merging point is close enough to the next interchange, so the traffic jam is much shorter.

I'm going to try this new road in the morning of next Sunday. I'll let you know how it goes.

Have a great weekend,

Teach Your Teen - A Parents' Guide

People don't learn how to drive by themselves. They need guidance, and in many places it's you, the parents, who need to teach. Here is an article that can help you do it better.

How to Teach Student Drivers - 9 Tips for Parents

Are you trying to help your teen learn how to drive? There are many things that parents can do to help their kids prepare for their driving test. The important thing is that you teach your teen how to be responsible behind the wheel. One way you can do this is by having him or her watch you as you drive. Be a good role model when you are behind the wheel yourself.

Here are some more tips on teaching student drivers and preparing them for their driving test:

1. This can be a bonding opportunity. If there are any family problems, leave them at home. If your teen makes a mistake, don't get angry. Provide constructive criticism. Don't nag or yell.

2. Make sure your teen doesn't pick up on your own bad driving habits. If you have any, try to avoid making them. Even the most experienced adult drivers have some unsafe driving habits, such as rolling through stop signs and going over the speed limit.

3. Begin the driving lessons in an empty parking lot. Progress to old country roads and quiet neighborhoods. Stay in low-risk environments and slowly move on to driving routes. Find out where the testing routes are located and let your child practice on them. You can find maps of the testing routes online.

4. You and your teen both should understand the laws regarding young drivers. Your child must have his or her learner's permit in order to practice driving. In most places, they are not allowed to practice driving between midnight and 6 am.

5. Be calm and patient. If you get nervous or anxious easily, have somebody else go with your teen. That person should be a responsible adult with a clean driving record. You should be able to trust that this person will provide your child with clear instructions.

6. Don't just offer constructive criticism when your teen makes mistakes. Give compliments and positive remarks when they are due. This will instill confidence to your child.

7. If your teen gets nervous, you can help him or her steer with your left hand. You can also help steer the wheel when he/she is practicing parking. Once he/she gets comfortable, let go of the wheel.

8. Don't forget to adjust the mirror on your sun visor so that you can use it as your own rearview mirror. Properly adjust it to eliminate sun glare and blind spots. Use the outside mirror as well.

9. Communication is essential. Be prepared to offer clear, concise instructions. Direct to the student driver where to go and then state the action to take.

If you follow these tips, you should be able to teach your child how to drive safely!

First Time Driving: Cheyenne

Today's first time driver is Cheyenne, who is a bit shy. We can't hear her voice in the video, but rather hear a very loud song. We can still see how she drives, which is pretty good.

This video is from February 21, so Cheyenne still has a very long time until she gets her license.

Good luck!
