Learn How to Practice Driving So That You Can Pass Your Road Test

After you get your learner's permit, you will have a limited time to get your license. You will have to fit in as much practice as you can before you take your road test. How can you learn everything there is to know about driving when you only have a short amount of time to practice?

Where should you put your focus when you practice? Here are some tips for getting the most out of your practice.

• Practice stopping at a variety of places. Learn how to stop correctly at an intersection. You need to stop before the crosswalk. Whenever you come at a STOP sign, slow down and come to a complete stop. Do not let the vehicle roll. When approaching a yellow light, slow down and stop - even if you reach it before it turns red. Don't go through.

• Practice driving on a variety of terrains. Start off driving at an empty parking lot or on an old road with very few cars. Once you get the hang of it, move on to a busier road, before finally practicing on an intersection. Go out and drive on a rainy day as well.

• Learn how to change lanes properly. Remember to check the mirrors. Look behind you to check your blind spot. Signal properly and try to maintain the speed. Change lanes as smoothly as possible.

• You'll definitely want to practice parking up-hill. When there is a curb, the wheels should be turned to the left. When there is no curb, the wheels must be turned to the right. When facing downhill, the wheels should always be turned to the right. Don't forget to set the parking brake when parking on a hill.

• Pay close attention to your surroundings. Don't put 100% of your focus on you. Put some focus on the other drivers. Is the driver in front of you slowing down for some reason? Does the person on your right seem confused? Always anticipate their moves before they make them.

• Practice driving in reverse and pulling out of parking places. Go to an quiet road or parking lot and put the car in reverse. You can practice pulling out of parking places by setting up trash cans or cones. Practice pulling in between them and pulling out.

• Try overtaking another vehicle at least once. Just be careful when you do it. Only do so if it is safe for you and other drivers.

Be careful of hills, bends, pedestrian crossings, bridges, etc. If another car is in front of you trying to overtake, don't drive too closely behind it. When you are well passed the vehicle you are going to overtake, check for blind spots. Give your signal, accelerate, and move when it's safe to do so.
