A recent study published this month shows that US cities are declining in car use. The number of households without a car has risen slightly since 2007, and will probably keep rising as long as car possession keeps getting more and more expensive.
Driving inside US cities can truely be a nightmare, with very high parking prices and a very small number of street parking spots. With an increase in mass transit, I guess that car possession will go even lower.
On the other hand, this is some good news for drivers, who have to deal with less traffic.
