When January ended, I showed you one way gas stations can be dangerous. Today you'll see why you should never enter your car when filling up gas.
Yes, that's real. Static electricity can be quite dangerous at times.
Hopefully March won't be so dangerous.

The Great Escape
What is driving for you? For me it's, beyond its real purpose, an escape. When I drive, it's only the car and I. No one else.
I had this exact feeling last week. I drove to a place which is about 30 minutes away. I had so much fun that I just made the route longer. Took another road, tried to see new areas. It was just so much fun.
Try it sometimes. It's really fun.
Have a great weekend!

Online Driving Secrets
Learning to drive can be really easy if you have the right resources. One of them is online courses and guides. Here is an article I wrote about it.
Online Driving Courses Will Provide You With Secrets and Tips For Passing
If you are preparing for your driving test, the first thing you need to do is feel comfortable behind the wheel. You need to practice with confidence, although you should still maintain a fair amount of caution. If you are gripping the wheel too hard, or find yourself shaking during practice, you're undoubtedly not as comfortable as you should be. Thus, you need to work on improving your confidence a bit in order to continue with practice.
You also need to learn about proper driving techniques. You can learn these from a professional instructor. While driving lessons are essential, you can still learn about driving theory in a good guidebook. The DMV manual doesn't provide everything you need to know in a clear, concise manner. As such, you can find good tools and resources online that will instill you with the knowledge you need for being a good driver and passing your test.
These resources include information about what to expect on the day of your exam. For example, the examiner will observe you to make sure you do the following:
· Put your seatbelt on.
· Make sure the examiner has his or her seatbelt on before starting.
· Adjust the seat and mirrors as needed.
· Signal properly and turn your head before pulling out.
· Hold the steering wheel the right way with both hands: at the 10 and 2 o'clock positions.
· Signal properly at every turn at the right time.
· Have good control when accelerating and stopping.
· Observe the road and traffic around you.
These are some of the most important things that the examiner will watch for when you take your driving test. By learning how to do all of these, you will become a better driver. You will also be more comfortable and confident behind the wheel!
Learn more about helpful online driving courses and how they can help you pass. You will receive plenty of knowledge and insight about driving and what it takes to pass the road test. If you've never taken the test before, these secrets will help you to pass on the first try! If you have taken it before and failed, you will learn how to avoid making mistakes the next time you take your driving test!
Hope you found this information useful,

First Time Driving: Blanchea
Usually, first time driving videos are either full of screams or quiet as a fish. This time we have a video that is neither of them. Actually, this one is quite funny.
This video was uploaded a week ago, so Blanchea still has a very long way to go until she gets her license. I'm sure she'll be better by then.

Driving Test Recall
Apparently, the Toyota recall damaged more than the image of Toyota. It also damaged Emily Harris' chances of getting a license before giving birth in April.
Harris, a pregnant teenager, only wanted to pass her driving test and become a qualified driver before her baby arrives. However, the DSA disagreed to conduct the test, saying that Toyotas are not safe. They completely ignored the fact that her Toyota was not in the recall list.
Hopefully this issue will settle down shortly. Good luck, Emily!

This Can Just Save Your Test
When we take a driving test, we are very focused on the technical side of things: accelerate right, stop at stop signs, and do everything right. However, there are more issues to consider. Alex Y Conner wrote an article about it.
How Did I Pass My Driving Test? Easy!
Driving tests are one of the most nerve-wracking experiences ever. And that's probably the main reason why so many people fail at it! Being calm while you are taking the test is probably one of the biggest things here - but it's not all. Read on to find out more.
What the examiners look for in you, while you are driving at your driving exam is completely different from what most people think - in fact most people overcomplicated this - it's really very easy to pass your driving test. "Oh my god" If I could just pass my driving test, everything will be ok - I've heard that from countless of my friends. There are a few reasons why this puts so much pressure on people - first of all, if you don't pass your driving test, that sets you back by a lot of money, and time. And second of all - it's the biggest fear people have - of being judged. It's quite nerve-wracking to know that someone is looking constantly at you, and judging your every move.
I just want to pass my driving test! Is that too much to ask?
Here's the shocking truth - whether or not you pass your driving exam, is not necessarily determined by how good a driver you are. You can be the greatest driver of all, and have been driving for years. But if you forgot to turn your cell phone off, and it started ringing constantly during the test, the examiner could get annoyed and flunk you just for that! Not to mention all the other areas where you could get flunked. So, you need to properly prepare. But on the other hand, preparing too much can make you really stressed, so you also need to relax. Prepare, but once you start the test, just forget everything and focus on the driving!
As promised! - here's the guaranteed way to pass your driving test easily: http://www.bluraydvdtech.com

Use this little tip. It can just save your test.

The Law of Improvisation
Here's a situation for you: you're driving at night in a place you don't know. All you know about this place is that there's a main road going through it, and finding this road will take you home. What do you do?
That's exactly what happened to me last Thursday night (technically, it was already Friday morning). I visited a friend who lives in a small street in an area filled with one way roads. When I wanted to go back, things got complicated.
To solve that I didn't use any GPS, I just used the Law of Improvisation. This law says: "If you don't know the way, improvise". Eventually, regardless of the dead ends you'll find, you will see that main road or at least a sign that will point you the right way.
This law saved me countless times from getting desperately lost. All you need is an anchor road and you can drive anywhere you want. Or you can use a GPS.
Have a great weekend!

Increase Your Passing Chances
Like everything in life, the driving test is also a matter of statistics. However, you can beat those statistics and increase your chances of passing. Here's an article I wrote about this topic.
Driving Test Secrets - Follow These Tips to Increase Your Chances of Passing!

There are online guides and software applications you can use to help you study. These tools are very helpful, and you will find the information to be presented in an easy to understand manner. There are also practice tests you can take and games you can play to help you learn.

Deadly Driving Tests
An Indian student 25 years old just rode his bike near the RTO (the Indian DMV). He didn't know that this will lead to him being killed by someone who is about to take his driving test.
Sanjeev Kumar Jha drove his borrowed Toyota Innova to the RTO in order to take his driving test. According to him, he made a U-turn, saw the victim, stepped on the brakes, but the car didn't stop in time.
I really don't know what happened in there, but it seems really weird. Unless the victim was in almost zero distance from Jha, it seems pretty hard to believe this story.
The police investigation will tell us the truth.

Dealing With Driving Test Nerves
The driving test is a pretty stressful situation, and it causes many examinees to be nervous. Colin John Brown wants to help you, so he wrote an article that will help you deal with your nerves.
Driving Test Nerves - What Are You Worried About?
Why Learners Get Nervous
The UK driving test tends to leave even the most confident/positive person feeling nervous and apprehensive. But why should this be? Firstly most of us have taken numerous written tests and exams by the time we reach 17 years old (the earliest that we can take the UK test). However the driving test is quite different, not only is it a practical rather than academic test, but unlike most tests where we can put a line through something we have written if you make a mistake when driving you cannot go back and have another go. So the learner driver has to make the right choices in real time without the opportunity to sit and think about it for a little while first.
As an Approved Driving Instructor I usually ask my learners a few weeks before their driving test if they are nervous, and if they are, why. The most common reason for their nerves is that they are worried that they will make a mistake in a particular area of their drive.
So how can the learner deal with these worries? Well first we need to identify exactly what the areas of concern are.
What Are You Worried About?
If it was as simple as asking the learner this question then this will be a very short article. However we need to make sure we ask the right questions and use the answers correctly. Let me give you a real example from one of my past pupils.
A couple of weeks before my pupil's practical driving test I asked her if there was anything that she was worried about. She said that she couldn't do her maneuvers. Now as her instructor I knew that she could do all the maneuvers to the test standard, but wasn't keen on the turn in the road (3 point turn) in particular judging the front and rear of the car to the curb. So I asked a series of questions in such a way as to eliminate the areas that she wasn't nervous about. I asked:
-Can you complete the reversing around the corner? Yes.
-Can you do both reverse park exercises? Yes.
-What about the turn in the road? No! I can't do that.
We had now moved from being unable to do any of the maneuvers, to just being worried about one of them. Next I asked about this maneuver.
-Do you understand how to do the maneuver? Yes.
-Can you control the speed of the car and still do positive steering? Yes.
-And carry out effective observation? Yes.
I was now left with the actual area that my pupil was concerned with.
-Can you judge the distance to the curb at the front and rear of the car accurately? No.
Again knowing their driving I was able to ask the right questions next.
-When we normally practice this maneuver, do you keep hitting the curb? No.
-Do you occasionally stop a bit short from the curb and need to take 5 turns instead of 3? Yes.
-Will taking 5 turns mean that you fail the test? No, just a minor mark (driving fault).
I was now able to confirm to my pupil that the good news was that the only thing that they had to be nervous about was picking up 1 driving fault on their driving test (you can get 15 of these and still pass the driving test).
A few weeks later and with renewed confidence this pupil went on to pass their driving test 1st time!
By talking through the area that the learner is nervous about we were able to isolate the exact area of concern and deal positively with it.
If the nerves had been well founded, being about an area of their drive that was not as good as it should be then we would still have had time to work on this area and improve it prior to the test.
Dealing with Driving Test Nerves
Talking through our nerves is a great way of bringing them out into the open, where they are always easier to deal with. Hiding our worries away is never a good way of dealing with them, it's a bit like sticking our heads in the sand, and it simply doesn't help.
If you are coming up to your driving test then sit down and think or even better talk through your drive with someone you trust to give you honest answers.
Possibly write down your concerns and if you are learning with an instructor ask them about these worries, so that hopefully, as detailed above you can deal with these worries in a positive, constructive manner.
Prepare properly, with plenty of good quality driving practice. Use some of the excellent resources that are now available, such as Driving Test Revision Cards to help you feel more confident. Confront the reasons for your nerves head on. Then you will be ready to deal with your Driving Test, and achieve the result you want.
By facing up to your nerves you can deal with them rather than letting your nerves beat you.
Good luck.

Safety for New Drivers
Just passed your test? You can drive alone now? Congratulations! However, now that you have a license doesn't mean you can drive wildly. Here is an article by Kalyan Kumar that will give you some advice about behavior after passing the test.
Road Safety Tips For First-Time Car Drivers
When you reach the legal age, you're most likely excited to drive your own car. You then start practice driving with your parent or older sibling and then take a test to find out if you're skilled to be on the road alone. When you finally pass your test, you feel great relief that now your time to drive has come.
But wait! Before you get too over confident, it would be best to instill in your mind some important safety tips. You may or may not have learned this during your driving lessons but it counts to be more knowledgeable about safety tips to help you avoid traffic accidents.
First on the list is to fasten your seat belt. This is for your best protection in case of an accident especially when there's great impact. Seat belts have saved the lives of many drivers and it can save yours so never ignore them.
Next is to stick to the required speed. You may be raring to speed up when on a highway with fewer vehicles but just don't do it. Otherwise, you will only get the attention of traffic enforcers and the next thing you know, you're being flagged down.
Never cut in front of a car and more so in front of a large truck. This is dangerous because it requires other vehicles around you to make an emergency break. And if you're cutting in front of trucks, you're risking your life as large vehicles take longer to stop.
Don't stay too close to trucks. These large vehicles have the so called blind spots or no zones where they can't see the vehicles near them. These are the rear part, front and sides. Give more distance as much as possible when it's unavoidable that you're driving along with these large trucks.
Be in tip top condition by getting enough sleep, rest and eating right. This means being in the right state of mind and physical health. While on the road, a driver has to be alert and should focus on where he or she is going. Should some problems happen along the way, a driver has to have a presence of mind. And don't mix drinking and driving because they're not good for you.
Watch out for reckless drivers. Avoid vehicles that are over speeding, running through red lights, cutting in front of others and frequently changing lanes. They can cause other vehicles to make emergency breaks which can be dangerous to you and the others.
The most important lesson to learn here is to always be a good driver every time you're on the road. Follow traffic rules and you'll be safe.
But in case you get into road accidents, you need to get a car accident lawyer. This is an important step especially if you and your passengers suffer injuries. Car accident lawyers can help you determine the issue and what steps to take to file for claims. Knowing your rights as a driver should guide you in making the proper decision in the event of car accidents.
For information on car accident lawyers, visit Gallagher Law Firm, Louisiana lawyers and attorneys who specialize in personal injury, car and truck accidents, divorce, maritime law and more.

No Truck Luck
Trucks are a vital part of our life. They carry cargo from one end of the country to another, and without them we'll have a hard time living. However, with them, we have a hard time driving.
Imagine this situation - you drive on a freeway with two lanes going in each direction. There are two trucks one after the other on the right lane, and you approach them from the left to pass safely. Suddenly, the truck behind signals left and moves to your lane, in order to pass the other truck.
Now you're stuck. You can't pass, and the two trucks have a speed difference of about 3 km/h (2 mph), which makes the overtake very long. Meanwhile you have to drive slowly behind the passing truck.
This happens too often here, and nothing is being done about it. When the road is relatively empty, no car should go 30 km/h below the speed limit, but the trucks make it happen. Really annoying.
Hopefully it'll end soon, or I'll just try avoiding those truck-filled roads.
Have a great weekend!

Tips For Your License
Once again this blog returns to its original goal: giving tips to scared drivers-to-be. Today, in the 700th post on this blog, I have even more tips. With so much tips, there is no way you'll fail.
Driving License Tips - Learn How You Can Pass Your Test and Get Your Driver's License!
There are a lot of horror stories online from people who have failed their driving tests miserably. If you read any of these, you will only make yourself nervous and intimidated. The best thing for you to do is focus all of your attention on studying and NOT on fear or nervousness. You also need to practice driving every single day - even if it's just a few minutes. Go out with an adult and practice as much as you can.
Check out online resources. There are ebooks, how-to videos, tips, and even secrets available on the internet at your disposal. Even if you've already passed the written test, you still need to do a lot of reading. There are some practice-written tests you can take that can help prepare you for the road test as well. Learning all the rules and knowing what to do and when will help you feel more confident when you're driving during the test.
Sometimes the examiners or other DMV employees will share details about the things they'll be watching for during your test. Knowing exactly what you'll be examined on ahead of time will make it easier for you to prepare. While it's important to study and learn everything, knowing ahead of time what you'll be tested on will give you a focus point. Studying and practicing will go more easily from there. Find a checklist online of the things you need to go over during your practicing and print it out.
Keep in mind that you're not going to become a great driver overnight, so don't push yourself too hard. It's okay to relax every now and then. It's going to take some time, practice, and patience. If you're having any problems, keep working on them. It is essential that you work on your weaknesses, although you shouldn't neglect your strengths either. In other words, work on your weaknesses but still remember your strengths.
If you've taken the test before and failed, then work on your weak spots. What do you have trouble with? What mistakes did you make that resulted in failure? Learn from these mistakes and work on improving your weak points. Never forget that learning is an ongoing process, and that it's okay if you can't get the hang of everything at once. In time, everything will get easier. If you've already taken the test and failed, don't let yourself feel discouraged. Instead, keep on practicing, take advantage of resources online, and try again!
You can learn about how to drive online. Just look for secrets and details that aren't found in a basic DMV study guide. You may also want to consider taking an online driving course and practice tests to help you get your driver's license.
Hopefully these tips helped you slightly more with your test.
The 700th post marks the 30 day countdown to the 2nd anniversary. Writing two years daily is not as easy as it seems. Neither is writing for 700 consecutive days.

Car Buying Tips
Remember Francis Murphy from last week? She's back today with some more advice, this time about buying cars. Read carefully - this article can save you hundreds.
Useful Car Buying Tips
Analyze carefully what the criteria you are looking for in a car; is it the look, comfort, price, safety, reliability or status? After finalizing this, it will be much easier for you to narrow down the specific model/(s) that you are interested in. It is also advantageous to search around the websites for useful car buying tips. Tabled below append some good car buying tips for novice in car buying world.
Getting a Used Car:
1. Visit the second hand car dealers nearby which you have received good feedbacks from those whom have deal with before. Check out the car center personally. If you have spotted any car of your liking, check out the age, the mechanical condition, the engine, vehicle mileage, the interior condition and the previous owners of the car.
2. You may even spot a used car for sale through the newspaper or online website. Call up the contact number provided and arrange for an appointment to check out the car yourself personally.
3. Buying from a private seller carries higher risk as the mechanical condition of the car may be unknown and hidden; it is always advisable to have your own mechanic to inspect the vehicle before finalizing the purchase. There are unscrupulous sellers whom will not disclose the problems but try to cover them up, hoping to pass them on when selling the car to you.
4. Request for a complete history of the vehicle (service and maintenance records, accident records, wear and tear records, outstanding liens and its previous owners) . This will provide some good ideas on how the car has been maintained, and what are the potential risks in advance.
Getting a New Car:
5. The best time to make the purchase: December. Car dealers will cut down car prices to attract buyers as people tend to receive annual bonus end of year, and their spending power is high then. July and September, where car dealers sell off cars at lower price to allow space for new car models.
6. Specify your budget. This will definitely help to narrow the choices which you can select from.
