You can overcome stress and nervousness over your driving test! If you're worried sick, you probably won't be able to drive as well as you should. You won't be able to retain everything that you learn because you will have the wrong mindset. In order to pass, you have think positive.

It's easier said than done, though, isn't it? You can't just snap your fingers and make the anxiety go away.

The good news is that there are some steps you can take to reduce the anxiety so that you will be able to focus more on the driving part of the test rather than your own nerves.

Here are the steps you need to take for reducing anxiety:

• Work on your mindset. Think positive. Keep telling yourself "I can do this. I can drive. I WILL pass my test" over and over again. You might even want to try some self-hypnosis for success. You'll be surprised at how helpful it can be!

• Some of your friends might try to tell you horror stories about how they failed. Don't listen to them. Don't read any horror stories of driving tests online, either. Try to avoid them at all costs. If you do end up listening to any, consider a learning experience. What can you do to NOT make the same mistakes?

• Don't tell anybody other than your parents about the test date. If your friends don't know when you're going to take it, you won't feel as much pressure. You will have to deal with the additional stress of trying to live up to their expectations.

• Try to schedule the test at a time when it does not coincide with other stressful events, such as exam week or preparations for prom or a wedding.

• The best way to prepare yourself is to practice! If you have problems with anything, ask your instructor to help you practice it. Be aware of your weaknesses and ask for help dealing with them. Spend some time trying to make improvements where necessary.

• Go at a practice run at the testing site the day before a test. Try a "pretend test". Have the instructor act all serious like an examiner. Have him/her make "notes" on a clipboard as if it's the real thing.

• Make sure you get plenty of sleep the night before the test. Dress comfortably and show up early. If you get nervous, take some deep breaths and chant your mantra over and over again "Today will be a good day. Everything will go smoothly. I will do well."

As long as you follow these steps, you should be able to drive well on the day of your test. Just try to remain positive, and you will do fine.

You can learn driving theory online. Just look for driving secrets on how to pass you driving test. There is so much help and information online, including practice quizzes, stress reducers, and checklists. You'll find everything you need to help you pass!
