Driving Test Tips for Overcoming Driving Anxiety

Are you feeling very nervous about taking your driving test? Are you so nervous that you are afraid of taking it? You can overcome your fear of driving! You don't have to let your nerves get the best of you. As long as you have a proper plan in place, you should be able to become a good driver. You can learn the rules of the road and feel confident behind the wheel.

Did you know that people who experience driving anxiety actually make the safest drivers? You just need to overcome your fear enough to pass your test so that you can finally get your license.

Here are some tips for overcoming driving anxiety:

• First things first, find out what is causing the anxiety, and try to overcome it. Is it due to an accident you were involved in as a child? Did you witness a horrific car accident? Whatever it may be, speak to a therapist who can guide you into thinking more positively.

• Start making yourself as comfortable as possible. Start sitting in the driver's seat when the car is in park. Put your hands on the wheel and get used to the feel of it. When you practice driving, keep a first aid kit and some water in the car. Keep anything and everything that will provide you with comfort when you go for a drive.

• When practicing, have somebody with you whom you can trust. This individual should be able to stay calm in any situation. He or she should help you to understand where you need to make improvements. If you do something incorrectly, they should tell you what you did wrong and what you can do to NOT make that mistake again.

• If you start to feel nervous when you get into the car, stretch your arms. Take some deep breaths. Think positive. Keep telling yourself "I can do this. I can drive. I will do fine." Maintain a positive attitude and you will feel less nervous.

• Do your homework! Read all of the written material you can find about driving laws in your area. Practice driving around the testing center. Take a look at a map of the area and practice driving on every road, junction, corner, and turn you come across. Have your instructor with you.

• Try to get as much sleep as you can. Make sure you're eating well enough. Keep your body healthy and you will feel better mentally. Practice driving when you are in a good mood.
As long as you keep these tips in mind, you should be able to overcome driving anxiety. Good luck on passing the test!
